We are delighted to be working with one of the leading Manufacturing companies in the Ireland based in the heart of Killarney, and they are looking for a Strategic Buyer to join their team on a permanent basis.
About the Role: As a Strategic Buyer, you will report directly to the Procurement Department Manager or their delegate.
You will play a critical role in coordinating all activities related to the procurement of commodities, developing and implementing commodity and supplier strategies, and ensuring the timely availability of materials that meet the technical specifications, quality requirements, lead times, and cost targets.
Key Responsibilities: Commodity Coordination: Oversee all procurement activities related to a specific commodity.
Strategy Development: Support the development and implementation of commodity and supplier strategies in alignment with global purchasing guidelines.
Quality and Compliance: Ensure commodities meet required technical specifications, quality standards, lead times, and price levels.
Supplier Management: Identify, qualify, and develop suppliers to optimize performance and relationships.
Request for Quotation (RFQ): Create RFQs and analyze supplier offers to make informed decisions.
Data Management: Maintain item data within the MRP system for new and modified items.
Negotiations: Participate in supplier negotiations to secure the best prices and supply conditions.
Market Analysis: Conduct procurement market analysis to ensure best-cost sourcing.
Cost Reduction: Initiate and manage cost reduction projects for assigned commodities.
Supplier Portfolio Optimization: Continuously analyze and optimize the supplier portfolio to drive innovation and minimize procurement risks.
Issue Escalation: Collaborate with the Quality Department to escalate and resolve claims and quality issues.
Qualifications and Experience: Education: Third-level degree in a relevant discipline.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years' experience in strategic purchasing.
Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail and reporting skills.
Proficiency in IT tools (Word, Excel, etc.).
Advanced skills with formulas and complex spreadsheets in MS Excel are an advantage.
