About the Role: The Group Strategy function is responsible for driving strategic planning at enterprise level.
The team explores a range of strategic options, identifies strategic priorities that optimise stakeholder value in the near and long term and translates this into a comprehensive strategic plan.
In addition, the team undertakes deep dives on key business issues as required.
The Strategist assists the Head of Strategy and Senior Strategists on developing, communicating, and monitoring effectiveness of the business unit strategy.
Their role will include support of the annual Strategy planning process; undertaking an assessment of the wider business environment; research and deliver analysis of key business issues; and reporting of the Strategic Outcomes Report to the Group Board on a quarterly basis.
Key Responsibilities Include: Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior colleagues and stakeholders to define the Bank's strategic vision and objectives.
Support the development of the annual strategic plan and long-term growth strategies.
Support with developing an integrated strategic planning framework that explores a range of strategic options, identifies strategic priorities that maximize shareholder value in the near and long term and translates this into a comprehensive strategic plan.
Undertake market research, analysis, and other activity across a wide range of topics as required to support strategy formulation.
This includes conducting regular market scans of key relevant research to ensure the wider Strategy team are updated regarding key market trends.
Be up to date with and understand industry and competitor information (both traditional and non-traditional disruptors), consumer behaviour and business opportunities.
Maintain a strong understanding of the regulatory environment in which we operate.
Co-ordinate compilation of regular submissions to Exco and Group Board as required.
Support the annual strategic planning process including through tracking of activities against planning timelines and ensuring quality and consistency of submissions to Exco/Group Board.
Contribute to highlighting the key opportunities & challenges facing the Bank and understand & communicate potential new sources of business/strategic direction.
Embed and maintain a consistent framework for shareholder/stakeholder engagement on AIB strategy.
Maintain frequent interactions and be heavily invested in a broad range of stakeholders across the organisation with a view to effectively aligning their interests.
What you will bring : Highly motivated self-starter with 5+ years relevant industry, business, and strategy experience Experience in the development & execution of impactful strategies that have made a difference for a large, complex organisation, including a proven ability to deliver ongoing customer & financial improvements.
Strong research and analytical skills with related ability to clearly articulate proposals, including the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights.
A strong team-player mindset, coupled with the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across a large, complex organisation.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership and stakeholders.
