Part Time Support Worker (Rathangan/Newbridge Area) Dara Possibilities are recruiting for a part-time support worker in the Kildare area ( Rathangan/Newbridge ). The purpose of the role is to provide support to two individuals in Dara Possibilities outreach services programme to enable them to build a lifestyle and live their life as part of their chosen community. Reporting to the Support Coordinator, the Support Worker will be focused on delivering key outcomes for individuals specifically in the areas of employment, education/train and personal development.
Your principal duties & responsibilities will be To act as keyworker to support them to identify their individual goals and achieve their valued outcomes in relation to employment, education/training and personal development.
Working with people to develop their skills, competencies and personal development needs in order to make positive contributions in their community Working with people to build meaningful and supportive connections with their families and community through a range of interests and access to community activities, venues and services. Support individuals to become active citizens in the community of their choosing.
Supporting families and other identified natural supports so as to build their capacity to offer each person supported the optimum level of support with regard to achieving their desired outcomes.
Identify possible assistive technology solutions (if applicable) to support individuals to maximise their independence.
Minimum Education and Skills Required: Minimum of QQI level 5 in Social Care or equivalent.
A minimum of one years' experience working in the field of disability.
Previous experience of working in the community.
Experience of supporting self advocacy.
Understanding and knowledge of intellectual disability.
Full Drivers Licence and use of own car for work purposes.
Days/hours: 8-10 hours a week, generally over 1 - 2 days per week.
Some flexibility to meet changing needs would be ideal.
Days and times will be discussed at interview.
