While the organisation reserves that rosters may change in time and in response to the changing needs of the service it is projected that the successful candidate will follow the below pattern for the foreseeable period.

Display a good working knowledge of HIQA regulations and standards Flexibility and adaptability required to work within different service area locations if required.
Relevant Fetac Level 5 qualification or higher Possess a Full Clean Drivers License.

The Support Worker must have the ability to work with people with an intellectual disability and must believe that the person has the right to live and participate in the community equally with other people The Support Worker, in co-operation with the Social Care Worker and Manager, will be responsible for the overall growth and direction of persons supported, working by the ethos of the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland, Limerick Region.
The person appointed must be highly responsible and reliable, be competent in household management and have the ability to create and maintain a homely and supportive environment.
The person appointed will administer drugs to people supported by the services in line with the Community Services Drug Policy Principal Duties and Responsibilities To provide a home-like atmosphere for all people supported by the services in a manner that will develop their ability to integrate into community life To assist people supported by the services to participate in community events To work with people supported by the services to achieve their lifestyle plans, with an individual focus.
To encourage the development of individual friendships for household members and support each person to share with other people supported by the services and their community his/her talents, ideas, feelings, desires and aspirations.
To respond practically to the physical, recreational, leisure, emotional, cultural and spiritual needs of people supported by the services.
To foster a spirit of welcome for all who come to the community home e.g.
people supported by the services, families, neighbours and guests.
To hold meetings in the home and ensure that decisions are arrived at in a spirit of co-operation and to empower people supported by the services to advocate for themselves to make their own decisions and choices.
To ensure birthdays and days of special importance to people supported by the services are celebrated and that special seasonable celebrations take place.
To help arrange annual holidays and weekend breaks for people supported by the services To arrange medical, dental, optical, auditory appointments for people supported by the services when required.
To ensure that people supported by the services monies are accounted for and recorded as appropriate.
To maintain client files and to collect and record relevant data e.g.
personal issues into people supported by the services file, incident reports, monthly reports and annual reports.
To attend meetings as required, including case conferences, house meetings, supervision and staff meetings.
To work closely with members of the multi-disciplinary team and other colleagues in the organisation.
To comply with the guidelines, policies and procedures of the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland.
To be responsible for household finances and to maintain household accounts.
To ensure all fire, health and safety regulations are adhered to.
To liaise with outside agencies as appropriate.
To carry out driving duties as required.
To attend training when required.
You are required to establish and maintain relationships with the individuals who use our services that are based on respect and equality and that promote their independence.
To carry out any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Director of services.
In carrying out his/her duties, the Support Worker will have supervision from their line manager.
The line manager will mentor and support them in the role if required.
High degree of flexibility & openness to change in accordance with the changing needs of the service user & as the service needs require.
You must hold a Full Clean Driving Licence as you are required to be willing and able to drive a vehicle with up to 8 passenger seats and up to 3,500kg.
