Oliver James is currently engaged with a market leader in the Investment Banking space to appoint a Tax Accountant to the business. This newly created position reports directly into the European Head of Tax and will focus on Tax reporting and Compliance (corporate & VAT) for entities in UK/I, statutory reporting, financial control and play a key role in the further development of tax accounting and reporting. You will also play a key part in both local and global project-based work.
The day-to-day responsibilities of the role are varied and will include but not be limited to the following:
Assist with the tax notes for all the UK & Irish entities, including reviewing draft financial statements to ensure accuracy of numbers and appropriateness of financial statement disclosures.Provide expertise in incorporating any tax disclosure requirements as new businesses/products are booked in the local entities.Preparation of tax provisions for the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close process for UK and Irish entities, explaining variances and dealing with queries from London/Toronto Finance and Tax teams.Prepare all journal entries relating to corporation tax and VAT.Prepare draft corporation tax returns for all UK and Irish entities and respond to any questions from external advisors.Own ad hoc specified local and global projects.This position would suit a highly motivated and ambitious Tax Accountant looking to gain experience within an international setting. You will also have a strong knowledge of UK & Irish corporate Tax, an understanding of VAT and partial exemptions for Financial Services along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
