Further details on our benefits package can be accessed here Benefits (life- Role Overview As a Tax Specialist for the Irish Life Group (which includes Canada Life), you will have responsibility for assisting the Tax Manager/Senior Tax Managers with the compliance and tax accounting provisioning along with internal and external regulatory, statutory and group oversight processes. In addition, you will provide tax support and tax technical advice to business divisions and management across the group's operations. Team Background This role sits within our Taxation team and reports to one of our Tax Managers or Senior Tax Managers within the Irish Life/Canada Life group. This team has oversight/responsibility for statutory tax compliance, tax accounting and tax advisory services for the Irish Life Group. The team interacts closely with the Group's Canadian tax team. Specific responsibilities will include: As a Tax Specialist, you will provide support to the Tax Manager, Senior Tax Managers and the Head of Tax on all tax compliance and tax planning matters over a range of tax heads, both direct and indirect. Provide tax support and tax technical advice to business divisions and management on a wide range of tax matters and develop and maintain strong working relationships with business units and divisions. Assist in the preparation and review of tax returns and tax computations for the Irish Life group over a range of tax heads to ensure that tax reporting requirements are fulfilled. Prepare and review the quarterly and year-end tax provisioning and reporting processes for local entity and group accounts purposes, including the preparation and review of associated workings. Keeping up to date with existing and upcoming tax legislation to support the business. What you will need to be successful in the role The ideal candidate will have/be: ACA/ACCA qualified and/or AITI qualified or another relevant Tax qualification. The ability to work effectively and efficiently, both individually and as part of a team in a demanding environment whilst meeting tight deadlines. Highly motivated with the ability to use initiative and demonstrate a willingness to learn. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret new regulations and financial information. Good technical tax knowledge, including legislation and case law in addition to practical application. The ability to prioritise tasks while working within tight deadlines in a demanding environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written incorporating an ability to communicate technical concepts and the ability to interact positively with others. Strong end user computing skills in particular MS Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
