Position Description The Technical Capability Team, in the Centre of Engineering, is responsible for ensuring that the appropriate capability in engineering and related professions is in place across ESB to enable delivery of the Net Zero by 2040 strategy.
There are two key aspects to technical capability assurance: bringing new talent into the organisation and developing the talent we have. The technical training programmes operations lead is responsible for ensuring the provision of appropriate formal technical training for new and existing technical talent across ESB. They source such training internally and externally and are responsible for the procurement and scheduling of existing training as well as the development of new training programmes as required.
Key Responsibilities Develop, operate and drive continuous improvements in the formal training programmes for all engineering (and related professions) early careers cohorts (interns and graduates). Develop/source new training content/suppliers as required and support the implementation of any transition plan from current to new programmes.Build and maintain strong relationships with the Learning and Development Team and others in the HR Community, Capability Assurance Managers, Graduate/Undergraduate Coordinators, Line Managers, to ensure the programmes operate effectively to meet business needs.Support the Manager Technical Capability in devising, or sourcing externally, technical development programmes for technical personnel complementary to, and building on, those of the graduate programmes.Develop and sustain relationships with third-level institutions and other further education/Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course providers and identify courses aligned to ESB's technical people's needs with particular focus on part-time post-graduate offerings such as micro-credentials, certificates, and diplomas.Support the delivery of internally developed technical training and the scheduling of both internal and externally provided technical training.Monitor/Oversee spending of the EMP training budget.Support ESB CSR initiatives in relation to STEM careers promotion and diversity in STEM careers. Where feasible, dovetail ESB STEM CSR initiatives with those of 3rd level and other professional institutions and incorporate STEM CSR volunteering into ESB CPD activities.Experience and Qualifications An honours Bachelor's Degree in HR or a related discipline or an equivalent technical competence.A minimum of five years' experience, ideally across multiple teams, business lines, and business units.Strong scheduling and organisational skills.A flexible approach to work, especially where necessary to deliver the strategic objectives of the group.Experience in Learning and Development.A track record of innovation.Leadership in knowledge sharing, process improvement, and change management.Knowledge of the capabilities required to deliver on our Corporate Strategy to 2040.Location The successful candidate may combine working from home within the Republic of Ireland, with attendance at base in ESB's Dublin airport and Dublin city centre offices and ESB's F27 offices for in-person collaboration, the frequency of which is agreed with the manager but is typically two or more days a week. Travel, within Ireland and occasionally internationally, will be a feature of this role.
