Underwriting Strategy & Excellence Consultant This role involves working as part of the Underwriting, Strategy and Excellence Team to lead the development, implementation and ongoing management of the Underwriting Policy and all associated frameworks for RSAII.
You will be responsible for the ongoing management of the Policy and Frameworks including engaging and managing the key stakeholders e.g., Portfolio and Senior management in RSAII and in UKI.
The Underwriting Policy and the associated underwriting authority frameworks are an integral part of Portfolio Management.
Your role will be to provide an independent review of portfolios to ensure adherence to risk appetite and strategy and compliance with the Underwriting Policy by evaluating the risk assessment, risk selection and pricing of insurance portfolios across all underwriting lines.
As part of the underwriting function, the Line1 defence team are required to support the growth strategy of the Underwriting function whilst maintaining controls at a reasonable level appropriate to our size.
Key Responsibilities: Ongoing management of the Underwriting Policy and all associated control validation frameworks.
Ensuring controls are operating effectively and are compliant with UKI policy.
Mandatory reporting of control validation findings and resulting actions to Senior managers within RSAII / RSANI/123.ie and follow up on actions.
Management and oversight of the case underwriting licence process (RSAII/RSANI & 123.ie).
Using their underwriting knowledge and skills to interpret and validate complex underwriting information from multiple underwriting systems across all portfolios in RSAII.
Influencing and persuading Portfolio Managers and other Senior Underwriting and Operations Leaders to maintain and improve risk management standards and underwriting controls.
Key contributor to bimonthly underwriting controls meeting.
Driving underwriting excellence throughout RSAII, RSANI and 123.i.e., through feedback and trend analysis of control validation findings.
Assisting with designing an Annual Underwriting Validation plan and ensuring appropriate sign off and reporting is in place.
Providing guidance to Portfolio and Senior Managers in the development of new and revised business process in response to UKI underwriting and risk requirements.
Working with UKI to ensure the annual control validation plan for RSAII and RSANI is undertaken efficiently and effectively.
Assisting with external audits on Underwriting matters.
Assisting with internal audits on Underwriting matters.
Assisting with the compilation and interpretation of risk and control information for use in the quarterly risk and control meetings.
Assisting with preparing packs and documenting output of the POG and Wording Committee forums Requirements: CIP Qualifications with 3 - 4 years experiences Excellent knowledge of Personal or Commercial lines products Good Underwriting Technical Capability to enable effective challenge of Underwriting controls and control validation.
Stakeholder management skills Good written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills Regulatory Requirements: This role is subject to the Fitness and Probity Standards ("The Standards") , issued under Section 50 of the Central Bank Reform Act 2010 and any subsequent amendments.
The role holder must ensure they are fully aware of the Standards and in a position to fully comply with them at all times.
