Vacancy for Data Manager at University College Dublin Library 2 May 2023
Dublin
€48 381 - €65 549
Fixed Term
Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Data Manager within UCD Library. The mission of UCD Library is to be a leader in enriching the student experience, to empower global engagement, and to act as an intellectual centre for the UCD community. UCD Library consists of five libraries, UCD Archives and the National Folklore Collection. UCD Library provides library and information services to UCD staff and students. UCD Archives and the National Folklore Collection at UCD house collections of national importance for use by the UCD community and external researchers.
The successful candidate will be joining the Research Services Unit in a period of change. The person appointed will demonstrate an enthusiasm for the changing information landscape and the ongoing development of library services including the implementation of new processes and services. To facilitate the effective achievement of UCD Library's strategic goals and to support staff development and engagement, active and positive collaboration with colleagues across the Library will be a key feature of this role.
UCD introduced a new Research Data Management (RDM) policy in 2020. The requirement for UCD researchers to manage and share research data will also increase as a result of current and emerging mandates from funding organisations. Working alongside UCD Library's existing Data Manager, this additional post, funded for a two-year period through the UCD EQUIP scheme, will involve:
Coordinating and maintaining existing RDM services. Developing new services. Liaising and collaborating with other Library units, researchers across UCD's Schools, Institutes and other research areas, other research support partners (e.g. Research IT, UCD Office of Research Ethics, UCD Research, Corporate & Legal), and external users and agencies such as the HRB and SFI. This post offers great scope for an individual to provide leadership in the development of this important and evolving service area, particularly through designing and delivering new services and supports.
