The Role:
Avolon is appointing a VP New Aircraft to join our Technical team in our Dublin office. The successful candidate will report to the SVP, Technical Transactions Europe, Africa, US and New Aircraft. The successful candidate will be a key figure in managing the design, build and delivery process of our new aircraft orderbook.
Role Responsibilities: Project Manage Avolon's new aircraft delivery stream with respect to aircraft deliveries on-site at the Airframe OEM to ensure an on-time delivery to the customer.Represent Avolon on-site at the Airframe OEM for customer meetings, aircraft presentations, and aircraft deliveries.Manage all issues in relation to aircraft deliveries directly with the Airframe OEM and escalate issues/customer requests as needed to ensure an on-time delivery.Liaise with internal Deal Teams with delivery updates/delays to ensure all parties are ready to execute the delivery process on-time.Liaise with internal Deal Teams to evaluate various aircraft placement opportunities with responsibility for ensuring potential Lessees specification definitions and costs to build Avolon forward order aircraft are transparent and accurate.Liaise with airlines, Airframe OEMs and Equipment OEMs to project manage all specification activity in line with the key milestone dates in the manufacture and delivery process of Avolon forward order aircraft.Project manage all new aircraft delivery stream activity with respect to aircraft specification with the aim of ensuring an on-time aircraft delivery to the customer.Manage BFE/Specification budgets for his/her delegated aircraft delivery stream.Extensive travel to cover new aircraft production/deliveries and new aircraft programs.The Person:
The person required for this role must be an individual with strong interpersonal skills and have the experience and confidence to engage at all levels within airlines and engine/airframe manufacturers. Significant and recent experience within the technical function of an aircraft lessor or Airline is required, as well as good experience of working with both Airbus and Boeing to define aircraft configurations and ensure that aircraft are delivered on time and in the condition required by the contract. The ideal candidate for this role will be capable of leading and motivating a team of professionals from various disciplines. The ability to work cooperatively with the airframe OEM's, equipment suppliers and other departments within the business are essential aspects of this role. The successful candidate will also need to have the ability to travel to provide on-site support for aircraft deliveries at Airframe OEM's.
Essential Skills and Experience: Degree in Aeronautical Engineering or an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's Licence.Previous experience of working with the Airframe OEM's in aircraft specification and configuration, and aircraft delivery management.Proven aircraft leasing or Airline experience, ideally in a leadership role.Strong commercial negotiation experience with Airframe and Engine OEM's and equipment suppliers.Proven experience in aircraft leasing or Airline industry and in the specification and delivery of new aircraft from the OEM's.Excellent working knowledge of the delivery process of aircraft from the Airframe OEM's and of Vendor GTA's and contract negotiation skills.Highly motivated self-starter who brings original thought, challenge and innovation to solving problems.Direct, effective, and engaging communicator with strong interpersonal skills.Strong and independent minded with the ability to express your views with conviction, showing bravery in confronting established thought.Ability to distil complex messages into key takeaways to support management decision making, summarising findings with impact, putting forward compelling arguments and rationales to all levels and audiences within Avolon and the industry.Driven, focused, resourceful and self-motivated with an ability to think independently and work to proactively identify solutions to issues as they arise.Strong drive for results, with a focus on meeting project milestones and timelines.Skilled at compiling and monitoring project statuses, with the ability to present updates to cross-functional teams.Excellent in interpersonal and collaboration skills, capable of developing and maintaining positive business relationships to meet the needs of multiple stakeholders.Showcase a track record of delivering successful outcomes in a fast-paced commercial environment.
