MCS Group is proud to be partnering with the Northern Ireland Assembly, in their search for a Social Justice and Equalities Research Officer on a temporary basis.
This post covers the policy areas of Social Justice and Equalities, including research related to age, disability, race, gender equality, poverty, and social mobility.
The role:Scope research requirements with individual MLAs, Assembly Committees, and the senior secretariat.Retrieve and synthesise information from a wide range of sources, including online databases.Deliver high-quality and impartial research and analysis on social justice issues that is timely and accurate.Produce research outputs including research papers, legislative analysis briefings, and blog posts.Present research briefings to committees in public sessions.Facilitate public events, such as those which form part of the KESS seminar series.Develop links across government and external research communities, including other parliamentary library and research services.Work collaboratively and collegially as an effective team member.Contribute to the development of RaISe, including improving service delivery.Carry out such other duties as may be required, which fall within the research business of the RaISe.Comply with the Assembly's Equal Opportunities and Dignity at Work policies and procedures.The Person:Applicants must meet the qualification and experience requirements set out below:
(i) At least an upper second-class (2:1) honours degree (or equivalent). Candidates must have gained an understanding of the development and analysis of public policy or law making;
and At least two years' post-degree (or equivalent) work experience of:
Conducting objective, evidence-based research on social justice/equality issues, including the collation, validation, and visualisation of a wide range of data (qualitative and quantitative) on social justice/equality issues.Producing and delivering research briefings on social justice/equality issues to decision-makers.The Rewards:As the successful applicant, you will receive the following:
