Position: Accounts Assistant
Reporting To: Financial Accountant
Job Summary: To support the production of weekly, monthly and statutory accounts for a number of cost centres and legal entities; to ensure taxation and statutory reporting requirements are processed on time; to support the development of IT systems and controls particularly with respect to accounting processes and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:Working with The Financial Accountant and the Finance Team:Weekly and Monthly Management Accounts: Ensure timely and accurate sales ledger, purchase ledger and journal processingLedger and balance sheet reconciliationsAnalytical review versus budget and last yearLiaise with internal departments to resolve queries in a timely and efficient mannerEnsuring that accounting records are maintained in accordance with accepted policies and proceduresTaxationPAYE ReturnsVAT ReturnsVIES ReturnsDiesel Rebate ClaimCustoms TAN Account ReconciliationIntercompany Transactions: Ensure accurate and efficient intercompany recording and recharge processReconciliationsProjects / Reviews: Reviewing, developing and implementing appropriate controls and proceduresAR ledger reviewsAP ledger reviewsSupport other ad-hoc tasks and projectsRequirements:Ability to work as part of a team and take direction accuratelyAnalytical thinker and problem solverCompetent IT skills, particularly proficient with spreadsheet softwareHigh level of accuracyExtremely organised in a manner that is easily read by othersTrustworthy and discreet when dealing with confidential informationAdministrative skillsPrevious experience of general accountingIT Skills:PC literacy, MS Outlook, Excel to a high standard and WordProficiency in relevant accounting software, ideally PegasusQualification:AAT or Level 5 and Level 6 Business Administration, book-keeping and finance or Work Experience EquivalentStudying or interested in studying for an accounting technician or accounting qualification
