About the Role As an Assistant Accountant, you'll support the Finance and Governance team in delivering key financial processes, reporting to the Senior Manager of Finance and Governance. You'll have the opportunity to grow your expertise, working on essential projects like financial reporting, risk management, and governance processes. Key Responsibilities: Assist with the process of delivering and reporting on the CRU's financial conditions and implement processes to deliver management information aligned to the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycle.Responsible for travel matters generally by ensuring as a general principle that the best value for money is obtained, in respect of each official trip undertaken, consistent with the requirements of official business.Collate information to support Value for Money Reviews, with direct responsibility for the preparation of the annual Foreign Travel Report.Assist with the preparation of Levy Income calculations on a quarterly basis; including reconciliation of actual trading results to forecasts for each category of levy.Provide cover for the financial administration executive, as required.General maintenance of the Debtors Ledger Accounts.Carrying out such other functions as may be required from time to time to fulfill the business objectives of the CRU and as appropriate to the grade.Act as Risk Co-Ordinator:Coordinating the collection of risk assessments and the scoring of risks, ensuring that risks are scored in a consistent manner;Collating reports to be provided to the Commission with regard to risk management;Capturing the risk in the corporate Risk Register and ensuring the risk is correctly described.What You Bring: Part qualified accountant (recognised accountancy body) or a third-level qualification relevant to this area of work.Minimum of 2 years work experience applying financial/accounting disciplines within the public sector or similar relevant role.Strong proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, computerized accounting systems.Desirable Requirements: NFQ Level 8 equivalent, in a relevant discipline with significant finance content or relevant professional experience.Experience in drafting documentation to communicate complex issues/information in a clear and concise manner.Core Competencies: CRU/Specialist KnowledgeInterpersonal and Communication SkillsAnalytical SkillsTeam WorkingDelivery Of ResultsWhat We Offer: Competitive Salary with annual incrementsGenerous Pension SchemeFlexible and hybrid working (up to 3 days remote per week)25 days of annual leave (increasing with service) + 11 bank holidaysFully remote options for up to 6 weeksOpportunities for further education and professional developmentAccess to Employee Assistance Program, cycle to work scheme, and more!Ready to be part of a forward-thinking organization that values professional growth?
