DescriptionBDO Ireland's Audit & Assurance Quality Management and Technical Group is expanding, and we have an exciting opportunity available at the Assistant Manager level. This position is non-client facing.
In this role, you will work closely with the Audit & Assurance department's Leaders and Management team to help support our audit quality management agenda, together with the technical areas. The A&A Quality management and technical group delivers the foundations for audit quality in the form of methodology, policies, reviews, coaching support, procedures, templates, guidance, and training.
You will be guided and supported in your role by our Head of Audit & Assurance Quality Management (HAAQM) and the firm's Audit Quality and Technical Director.

Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the A&A Quality Management and Technical Group on the delivery of audit methodology projects for all sectors, and the development of audit guidance, tools, templates, and training by preparing a first draft of the documents.Preparing initial analysis and draft response to technical consultations from the audit engagement teams on the application of the firm's audit methodology.Preparing initial analysis and draft response to ad hoc queries from the audit engagement teams on methodology related matters.Triaging routine audit quality and risk issues arising from the Audit Stream and progressing to ensure they are satisfactorily resolved.Identify, advise on and communicate changes in relevant regulatory, compliance and ethical requirements applicable to Audit through monitoring of appropriate accountancy and regulatory bodies.Assist in maintaining appropriate documentation and intellectual resources and monitoring of policies and procedures in line with regulatory and compliance requirements.Provision of support to the A&A Learning and Development Team in reviews of technical training content, adjusting general content to the specialised sectors (where applicable), delivery of technical audit trainings.Support the delivery of compliance processes and procedures to ensure that the firm's system of quality management is maintained under ISQM 1 and that sound and responsible business practices are incorporated into the day-to-day operations of the business.Assess and produce high quality work in line with the Firm's policy and processes, meeting relevant regulatory requirements.Assist the firm's A&A Quality Management and Technical Group in research projects on various matters as they pertain to audit quality and technical matters for input into external committees. Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseExperience in Audit Quality or Audit Experience with a keen interest to professionally develop in this technical area.CAI or ACCA Qualified Accountant or equivalent.Minimum of 6 months to 1 year post qualification relevant audit/accounting experience with a strong interest in technical accounting and auditing advice.Good awareness of underlying International Standards on Auditing (Ireland & UK).Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively across all levels within the firm.High level of attention to detail.Excellent time management and organisational skills.Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint).Team player with a positive approach.Previous project management experience is desirable but not essential.Positive attitude and a high level of personal drive to guide change initiatives and see them through to completion.Ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.Strong multitasking skills and ability to handle challenging deadlines and function effectively in changing circumstances.
