ActavoCable Technician - Virgin Media - Midlands Engineer/Technical Midlands Permanent PART 1: Role Details Role Title Cable Technician Department Virgin Media Reports To Team Manager Location Midlands PART 2: Role Purpose Your primary focus will be on the replacing and/or moving of HFC plant elements such as Taps, Splitters, Amplifiers, Line Extenders etc.
Also involving the installation of Network cables on both underground and overhead infrastructure.
Full training is provided.
You will need a full driver's license to be considered for this role.

Ensuring you are responsible for yourself and/or team members who report into you Troubleshoot and repair HFC trunk & distribution RF, AC & DC faults and troubleshoot basic optical issues Perform routine Optical Node, RF Amplifier and End of Line testing and balancing Using plant test equipment – including Signal level meters, volt/current meters, spectrum analysers, leakage testing meters, CPD testing meters, Optical meters & OTDRs Maintain and interpret records of daily work logs, data recordings, and network design maps To operate communications devices and company vehicles in accordance with company policies Work to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) set out by both the Client and Actavo Liaise with the Network Maintenance Manager to ensure that on-site health and safety requirements or issues are communicated in a timely manner Schedule relevant and appropriate maintenance checks and inspections for client's applications and devices, carrying out thorough examinations and audits, identifying and fixing faults where applicable Positively promote the client's brand, through on-site performance PART 4: Person Specification Experience Full training provided but preference will be on candidates who have related experience Skills & Competencies (evidence of) Technical Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills Interpersonal Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills required Business Skills Problem-Solving Skills: A good technician can identify issues and source information to resolve problems with machines and mechanics quickly Time Management: must be able to plan and execute routine maintenance activities as well as responding to troubleshooting requests and unexpected equipment issues Personal Ability to work on own initiative and act independently whilst being able to work successfully as part of a team Possess excellent time keeping and time management skills Ability to represent the company in a professional manner at all times Attention to detail.

A malfunction may be caused by one small piece being dislodged and it is your duty to spot that quickly to prevent extended down time ACT 2
