We're hiring a Mechanical Fitter for a leading construction and materials group in Ireland and Great Britain, based in Kinnegad, Co. Westmeath.
Job Description: This role will involve leading corrective, planned, and preventive maintenance activities with hands-on tasks like welding, oxy-acetylene cutting, fabrication, alignments, slinging and rigging, as well as troubleshooting. You'll work closely with the maintenance team to keep equipment in optimal condition, meet quality and safety standards, and ensure all work orders are completed and closed out. The position includes participation in a callout rota and some overtime as required by business needs.
Requirements: A Level 6 qualification in Mechanical Fitting or Mechanical Automation is essential, providing you with the core technical knowledge and craft skills for the role. At least 2 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a fixed-plant environment, preferably within heavy engineering. You should have experience in preventative maintenance and repairs, with a proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. Proficiency in welding, oxy-acetylene cutting, fabrication, alignments, slinging & rigging, fitting, and overhauls. You should also have a solid understanding of safety systems and be able to perform and complete Risk Assessments and Safe Work Systems in line with company policies. A strong commitment to safety and compliance is required, as you will be responsible for ensuring safe practices are followed for both yourself and colleagues. Adherence to company policy and procedures is a priority, and you should have a willingness to question existing practices and propose improvements. You'll need excellent problem analysis skills, with the ability to identify issues proactively, gather relevant data, recognize critical information, and find root causes of problems. We're looking for someone who maintains a positive and enthusiastic approach to their work and strives to set high standards. You should be eager to learn and develop in the role, updating your skills and knowledge as required to maximize effectiveness.
