This role is located at our client site in Galway.
This is a full-time permanent position with CLS.The Role: Experienced Chemistry AnalystLocation: Oranmore, Galway (Marine Environment)Working in an exciting Marine Environment on the Galway coastline.Duties & ResponsibilitiesTo undertake the chemical analyses of veterinary residues and environmental contaminants in farmed fish/seafood at laboratories using various instrument such as LCMSMS, GC-MSTo assist in method development and validation of appropriate analytical methodologies in accordance with the quality system (ISO 17025) and to comply with EU legislation .To carry out the troubleshooting of analytical methods and instruments where necessary in accordance with the quality system.Prepare and assist in the preparation of reports as directedImplementing legally defensible sampling programme at harvest and other stages of production.
This involves on site work up of samples and maintaining a strict chain of custody.Sampling and subsampling of finfish samples and ensure that sampling targets are met.Assist where appropriate in follow up investigations.Liaise with approved 3rd party laboratories and assist in sending samples for subcontract analysis to various approved laboratories.Assist Residue programme coordinator in reporting, data management and other programme tasks as relevant.Essential:Qualifications: Analytical chemistry or an equivalent qualificationHands on experience conducting analysis using instrumental techniques such as LC, LCMS and GCMS and other analytical techniques used in residue analysis and or contaminates. Strong mass spectrometry (MS) experience, with a proven ability in MS optimising, troubleshooting and carrying out preventative maintenance is required. Experience of implementing a laboratory quality system such as ISO17025.A professional, pro-active approach and an ability to work efficiently under pressure.Be capable of working on your own initiative.Effective communicator, both verbal and written.Have strong ability to critically review analytical data, excellent attention to detail is a must.Proven ability at effective decision-making.Desirable:Experience in the analysis of environmental and or food samples for contaminates and/or residues preferably in complex matricesExperience in sample preparation and techniques associated with trace chemical analysis.Experience in analytical method development and have strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
