"A future which empowers people with intellectual disabilities to realise their potential and live a good life" Cheeverstown are inviting applicants who share in our mission and values to apply for the following post: CLINIC THERAPY ASSISTANT Clinic Team (Full time, 39 hour, permanent contract) Cheeverstown clinic is a multidisciplinary team of health and social care professionals working in social work, music therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy, psychology, speech and language therapy and administration.
We support people with their physical health, psychological health and social support needs.
We offer a primary care type service for adults with intellectual disabilities who use Cheeverstown New Directions and supported living services.
Role Purpose : The purpose of the role is to support the provision of a high quality, person-centred clinical service to adults supported by Cheeverstown, with a particular focus on occupational and physiotherapy services.
The Clinic Therapy Assistant will work under the direction and guidance of the appropriate clinic team member, who will predominately be CORU registered physiotherapists and occupational therapists. The Clinic Therapy Assistant will have a key role in supporting people to swim in community pools.
Essential Criteria: Possess, or are working towards, the relevant QQI Level 5 qualification which includes either Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy modules 1 & 2, or equivalent.
OR Have obtained an equivalent qualification e.g.
QQI Level 5 Major Award in a relevant area, e.g.
Health, Community, Care Full clean driver's licence and access to own vehicle. Previous experience working in an intellectual disability service.
Ability to support swimming - must be able to support people with physical and sensory disabilities in the water, in public swimming pools.
Knowledge or experience of clinical interventions, sensory interventions, mobility aids, manual handling, aids to help independence, exercise programs, travel training. Experience in delivering or facilitating group activity in a similar environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including good listening skills.
