They are seeking a highly skilled Customs and Compliance Specialist to join their team and ensure that their operations align with the latest industry standards and regulations.
Role Overview: The Customs and Compliance Specialist will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing all customs and compliance-related matters within the organisation.
Reporting directly to the Supply Chain and Procurement Director, the successful candidate will be instrumental in developing processes, managing documentation, and ensuring compliance with governing bodies.
Key Responsibilities: · Act as the primary contact for all customs and compliance issues across the organisation.
· Engage with regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with the latest regulations, particularly in product classification and duty minimisation.
· Maintain all necessary documentation for a minimum of 7 years and manage the audit process with revenue authorities.
· Utilise and manage special trade programs, including Temporary Admission and Outward Processing.
· Monitor and report on duty spend, ensuring timely and accurate submissions to relevant authorities.
· Foster strong relationships with external stakeholders, including hauliers, agents, and governing bodies, to optimise and streamline processes.
· Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for customs processes and collaborate with internal departments to minimise duty payments.
· Work closely with the Tax Manager to implement best practices across the organisation, including VAT and duties management.
· Supervise and manage in-house customs software, ensuring it is up-to-date and fully operational.
· Conduct continuous post-entry reviews to ensure the accuracy of customs documentation and maintain an audit trail for all shipments.
· Support product classification, valuation, and country of origin processes, and conduct annual reviews.
· Manage supplier declarations and ensure all associated paperwork meets regulatory requirements.
Key Competencies: · Strong knowledge of customs regulations, import/export procedures, and trade compliance.
· Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
· Excellent organisational, planning, and communication skills.
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP systems.
· Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
Experience and Qualifications: · Minimum 2 year's experience in a similar role.
· Relevant third-level qualification (e.g., Diploma in Business and Finance).
· Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
· Desirable: Experience in an FMCG environment and a customs qualification.
