As a result, our people get to enjoy working on some of the most exciting projects in the world.Job DescriptionThe Delivery Director shall be responsible for overseeing the procurement and delivery of the contracts until the PDP is appointed in next year.
The role holder is expected to be high calibre individual who is an ambassador for the contracts, driving relationships and performance within the client team, with the Project Delivery Partner and the Contractors (subject to the duration of the interim assignment).The Delivery Director will be responsible for the end-to-end oversight of all aspects of contracts procurement and delivery, providing leadership and direction in a fast-paced and collaborative team environment.
The role holder will be forward looking, identifying and managing risks, developing key stakeholder relationships and establishing robust and agile governance across the delivery team.
Whilst also supporting the Procurement team in the definition of requirements during the procurement stage and leading where required during the procurement stage.Principal AccountabilitiesLead the co-ordination of the Contracts during the procurement phase, working closely with the procurement and delivery teams, consultants and contractorsBe responsible for the Contracts budget, providing reporting and ensuring resources are well deployed and managedDetermine and track delivery milestones and key performance indicatorsWork with key stakeholders across the Contract, partners and the wider client team, to understand the landscape/context and support the procurement and delivery of the contracts and project objectivesCoordinate and draw support from the Project Directorate functions to ensure delivery excellence and performance on the Contracts ensuring suitable processes and procedures are in placeComply with governance process and ensure milestones are met and delivered in a controlled and assured mannerApply oversight, expertise and sound judgment either themselves, or by seeking independent verification through the Assurance functionEscalation of risks / issues to the Project Director for mitigation / resolution Work within the project governance structures and establish their consistent use throughout the team, Project Delivery Partner and ContractorKeep the contract aligned with the priorities and strategiesIdentify and leverage opportunities for implementation of continuous improvement and lean techniques to reduce costs and release programme contingencyDischarge delegated authority for low & medium risk projects in line with the project governanceDeliver the programme outcomes specified in the functional briefs within the control baseline and associated tolerancesEffectively manage teams of project controls, design, and other support consultants to properly allocate resources and maximize efficiencies across the programmeWhere appropriate, challenge forecasts and information produced by the appointed Contractor and/or Project Delivery PartnerQualifications15+ years experience in programme / project delivery across Infrastructure programmes of significant size and complexity, with at least 10 years of senior management experienceFurther demonstrated experience / knowledge of the following is required:Experience from inception to completion of complex high value metro and/or rail projectsExperience of tunnelling would be desirableExtensive knowledge of and understanding of capital project and programme delivery and how this supports and integrates with a wider high functioning environmentStrong and demonstrable leadership and management skills, including project management, procurement, contract management, financial management and change managementStrong planning, governance and delivery skills with the ability to set team goals, objectives and priorities, establishing clear roles and responsibilities for all direct reportsTangible experience of documenting best practice delivery, policies and standardsIn-depth understanding of the design and delivery requirements of technically complex projects in the architectural / engineering / rail / operations sectorsExperience of dealing with a range of stakeholders at all levels across the organisation influencing the improvement of process and guidance to support project delivery and reportingDelivered an integrated design enabling infrastructure delivery in previous roles at a senior levelExperience of undertaking client side procurement on major/equivalent contractsExperience of operating in an NEC 3 or 4 environmentSkillsAdditionally, the Delivery Director will be required to possess the following skills:Ability to successfully lead and manage a team on large and complex construction and/or rail projectsAbility to manage multiple technical requirements and teams within a construction environmentAbility to work effectively with multiple stakeholdersAbility to manage technical outputs to drive efficiencyExcellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skillsAbility to create a collaborative culture across the project teamAbility to govern and drive outcomes to ensure high quality service deliveryAbility to deal with and resolving unforeseen risks and issuesExcellent stakeholder negotiation and management skillsStrong team leadership skills with an ability to influence to drive effective design decision makingMotivated, driven, enthusiastic, hard-workingAbility to step back from the detail and take a holistic overviewPossesses a positive 'can do' attitude and can work on several projects simultaneouslyAbility to prioritise effectively, meet deadlines and deliver consistent serviceAbility to manage client expectations and deliver within agreed parametersAbility to work in a challenging environment both on their own initiative and as part of a teamEducation Minimum Level 8 degree (or equivalent) in relevant subject area , engineering, construction, project managementLevel 9 Masters in relevant field would be advantageous (or equivalent masters)Professional MembershipsChartered member of a relevant professional body preferred Chartered Engineer (ICE or equivalent)Chartered Project Professional (APM or equivalent) or
