Term: Fixed term contract at 21 hours per week (3 days Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) for 36 weeks (Extension may apply, if mutually agreeable, subject to additional funding)
Salary for contract: €19,008 gross (€528 per week gross)
What is BEAG?BEAG is Graffiti's award winning Early Years Arts programme. It encompasses play-based, multi sensory and interactive arts experiences with and for children specifically from birth to 3 years, led by our highly skilled team of Early Years multidisciplinary artist practitioners and encourages educators to find the magic in the everyday.
Graffiti's nurturing of the creative potential of every child from birth to eighteen years begins in BEAG, our Early Years experiences, which encapsulates high quality, child-centred, sensory-based arts performance and interactive play.
BEAG runs its core programme in childcare settings including Direct Provision with a particular focus on areas of socioeconomic disadvantage across Cork city and county. BEAG also delivers public participatory experiences in public spaces e.g. libraries, community centres, festivals, as Gaeilge and onsite at Graffiti.
BEAG is run in partnership with Cork City Arts Office, Cork County Arts Office and the HSE South and supported by the Arts Council of Ireland.
Graffiti is looking for an experienced project/arts manager with a drive to bring excellent arts experiences to our youngest citizens. A passion for nurturing and championing the Arts in Early Years and a strong belief in the ethos and values of BEAG are essential.
Early Years Arts practice in itself is desirable but not essential, however applicants should have experience of managing artists or programmes of creative work, and experience of relationships management with stakeholders.
The role of BEAG Programme Director is to uphold the four core principles of BEAG:Programme Delivery to an agreed number of Childcare settings across the city and countyMaintain and manage the design and delivery of Childcare Educator Creative Process & Play Training in collaboration with BEAG Artist TeamDevelopment of Artist Practice and fostering and nurturing Early Years Arts Ecology locally and nationallyDelivery of Activities Outside of Childcare Settings ie Public Participatory Events, Third Level Education collaboration, Children's FestivalsThe duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Agreeing the programme of work with Graffiti senior management, and managing the BEAG Early Years Art Programme Creative Team (artists) to deliver that programme.Managing the programme schedule for the BEAG programme includes:Line management of BEAG associate artists working on the programme including managing their requirements and schedules, specifying in detail all programme costs in line with service level agreements entered into.Maintain a living document tracking Childcare Settings identified for engagement, with guidance from the Steering Group members and advice from Cork City and County Childcare Committee Managers.Provide updates on progress via the quarterly meetings of the BEAG Early Years Art Programme Steering Group.Add details to record of childcare settings catered for during the lifetime of BEAG.Build and continue to provide professional development and support for the BEAG artists;Develop and manage evaluation process to assess impact of BEAG Early Years Arts Programme;Liaising and managing relationships with all the parties and stakeholders involved in the project ie. BEAG Early Years Art Programme Creative Team members (artists) including: Childcare Service Providers, BEAG Early Years Art Programme Funding Partners and others as may emerge.Outlining a budget specifying in detail all programme costs in line with service level agreements entered into. If applicable, provide updates on changes via the quarterly meetings of the BEAG Early Years Art Programme Steering Group. You will be supported by the Graffiti management team in this.Maintaining and developing further links with the childcare settings and other relevant interested parties engaging with BEAG (eg additional funding opportunities, presentation opportunities, venues, festivals, UCC Early Childhood Studies dept, College of Commerce etc).Seeking development opportunities for the programme, contributing to fundraising and grant writing opportunities for BEAG.Strategic development / advancement of the BEAG strategic plan and core principles.Ensuring that the programme is in accordance with Graffiti Theatre Company's Health and Safety, GDPR, Child Safety policies and procedures and with the Code of Practice of Graffiti Theatre Company and the Child Safeguarding policies of the BEAG Early Years Art Programme.Working Group partners.Adhering to national guidelines with regards to health and safety and Child Safeguarding for all BEAG Early Years Art Programme participants and contributors including the BEAG Early Years Art Programme Creative Team.Maintaining and building relationships by working closely with the childcare settings and BEAG Early Years Art Programme Creative Team (artists), facilitating discussion and gathering feedback in order to continue and extend reflective practice, research and peer training/exchange possibilities.Creating interim and final reports on the programme for funding partners and stakeholders.Please note: The successful applicant will need to have a full clean driving licence as there will be travel to childcare settings in the county as part of this role.
The successful applicant will also be contracted subject to satisfactory completion of the Garda Vetting process.
