Position Description The Protection Maintenance team in Transmission & Distribution Engineering provides a highly technical protection service. This involves development and implementation of maintenance policies/standards, monitoring the network and identification/specification of maintenance requirements.
Key Responsibilities Working on a national basis, key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Leading a team responsible for performing protection maintenanceProviding overall leadership and expertise, including project-managing, carrying out and documenting technical workSetting internal requirements for project safety, quality, programme and budget, and developing and improving internal systems for monitoring projects from the initial contact through to final deliveryLeading the training and development of junior staffAssessment of site safety prior to engaging in commissioning activities and coordinating the work schedule with site staff as appropriateCommissioning and maintenance testing of protection relaysFunctional verification of protection scheme designs and checking compliance to approved design standardsCoordinate, plan, and deliver commissioning projectsKnowledge, Skills and Experience Proven track record of project management / co-ordination, delivery of projects on time and to the highest technical standardsAbility to prioritize own work and the work of othersKnowledge and experience of operational procedures and the operation of substations and/or power stationsFamiliarity with typical protection philosophies as applied to Power stations and Transmission NetworksThorough knowledge of schematics, cubicle wiring and functional testing techniquesSelf-motivated and capable of working on their own initiative without direct supervisionShow a high level of commitment and flexibilityAs travelling to sites is a feature of this role, it is essential to have an appropriate Drivers LicenseExcellent communication and report writing skillsQualifications A minimum of 10 years relevant experience in the electricity generation and/or HV transmission sectorsEither a 3rd Level qualification or equivalent work experience is essentialLocation The role will be based at the Engineering & Major Projects head office, One Dublin Airport Central or Eastgate Office, Cork. Site work throughout Ireland and internationally will be a feature in this role. Driver's license is a must to apply for this role.

The successful candidate may combine remote / smart working within the jurisdiction, with attendance at base for in-person collaboration, the frequency of which is agreed with the manager and subject to ongoing review.

€66,800 to €78,500 per annum
