Echelon Data Centres is an international data centre infrastructure developer providing large-scale assets to support the growing global demand for data and computing resource – sustainably, responsibly and with due regard for the environment.
Echelon's objective is to develop, operate, and own a network of large-scale, responsibly designed, sustainably powered data centre campuses across the world to meet the rapidly expanding global demand for hyperscale data processing and storage solutions.
The Echelon Group has expanded to ownership of six sites across Ireland and the United Kingdom and has secured >€1bn of funding to develop sites, giving the Group an enterprise value of c€2.5bn.
The Group's second campus will go live imminently.
Located in Sandyford, Dublin, Echelon Data Centres is now seeking an Energy and Grid Services Lead to support our growing international management team and an expanding portfolio of energy assets across our sites.
This exciting role provides an excellent opportunity to join a rapidly growing Irish company and will report to the Head of Energy Systems.
Duties:You will support complex energy solutions projects and delivering low carbon solutions across all our activities.Lead the Energy procurement function within the Energy Team which will include market analysis and supplier management.Lead all Capacity Market and DS3 services development and execution.Manage asset dispatch strategy to optimise performance of our assets.Laise with Energy Centre and Data Centre operations teams to optimise performance.Report on asset performance to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).Carry out detailed analysis of energy opportunity analysis (renewable energy, innovation projects, cost saving measure)Support design team with market and technology guidance for infrastructure planning.Keep up to date with regulatory policy changes and support the SLT with analysis and reporting of all relevant changes.Engage across internal and external stakeholders to support our decarbonisation targets and inform the business strategy.Lead the modelling of decarbonisation scenarios – we have developed several models for identifying and quantifying energy decarbonisation pathways incorporating different low-carbon technologies.Work closely with experienced professional engineers to manage specific aspects of assignments, with growing responsibility for quality, budget and schedule.Develop and implement your commercial skills, to manage commercial aspects of projects.Develop and consolidate client relationships and networks, and keep up-to-date with developments and innovations within relevant sectors.Contribute to the growth and development of Echelon, including by proactively marketing our business.Contribute to the development of the company's professional standards.Providing ad-hoc support to members of the management team as required.You will identify and develop cost saving projects and initiatives related to grid and network infrastructure.You will collaborate with electricity utilities and other external stakeholders to develop strategies that support Echelon's expansion.You will develop and execute strategies that leverage capital projects (utility grid connections, HV substations, energy storage etc.)
to accelerate delivery of power capacity and optimize total cost of ownership.Requirements:An honours degree in engineering (level 8 (or higher) or equivalent), preferably in the fields of mechanical, chemical or energy systems engineering.
If you are an exceptional candidate from another discipline, then we will also consider your application.Approximately 5-8 years of professional experience in role(s) directly relevant to sustainable energy or system services.Attention to detail, including a high level of accuracy.Ability to plan, prioritise and manage tasks and projects to successful conclusion.Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines.Strong relationship-building skills and good business acumen.Self-confidence and ability to innovate.Cooperative and flexible approach to work, both in terms of time and methods, with a willingness to embrace change.Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Permission to work in Ireland: you must have relevant documentation confirming that you are lawfully entitled to work in Ireland.Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines.Echelon-DC is an inclusive organisation and we actively promote equality of opportunity for all with the right mix of talent, skills and potential.
