Job OverviewAs the Engineering Lead, hold responsibility for the effective and efficient operation of a highly automated 24/7 Production and Bottling Department. Take full ownership and accountability on shift(s) for the department's performance against agreed targets and key performance indicators (KPIs), while providing support and leadership on continuous improvement across all key operational metrics.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide clear leadership to a team of up to 20 technicians, setting standards, coaching, and developing them through regular one-to-ones and formal performance reviews. Ensure effective training, competency assessments, and personal development plans for each team member.Oversee preventive maintenance schedules, equipment upgrades, downtime reduction, and proactive management of the production process. Lead initiatives to reduce energy consumption, implement water-saving technologies, and develop waste reduction programs, aligning with our sustainability goals.Collaborate with the R&D team to bring new soft drink formulations from concept to production, ensuring scalability and manufacturability. Stay informed on emerging technologies and lead pilot testing for new products.Ensure regulatory and safety compliance. Proactively support the development of safety through effective leading KPIs, risk assessments, hazard elimination, and proper use of PPE. Conduct thorough investigation and root cause analysis of accidents and incidents.Manage the engineering budget, identify cost-saving measures, and utilize data analytics to monitor production metrics and make informed decisions. Effective communication, including daily shift briefings, comprehensive shift reports, and participation in shift handovers, will be essential.Requirements/Skills3-5 years of experience as an Engineering Lead/Supervisor and team leadership in a production/manufacturing environment, with a consistent track record of achieving KPI targets.Knowledge of production processes within the food/soft drinks production environment.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to utilize resources effectively, display initiative, and apply problem-solving skills.Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.Experience leading a team and a strong understanding of how to develop a high-performing team.Food ManufacturingLean Manufacturing Production SchedulesSupervisory ManagementTPM & OEE KnowledgeKey BehavioursSelf-motivatedTeamwork-oriented with leadership capabilityAdaptable to short- and long-term changeQualificationBEng Degree (Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering)Working PatternAbility to undertake a shift work pattern over 5 days.
