This role is located at our client site in Galway.
This is a full-time permanent position with CLS.The Role: Experienced Chemistry AnalystLocation: Oranmore, Galway (Marine Environment) Duties & ResponsibilitiesWorking in an exciting Marine Environment on the Galway coastline.Provide scientific advice and undertake marine environmental monitoring services to ensure the marine environment is managed in a sustainable manner. Sampling of finfish samples and ensure that sampling targets are met.Assist where appropriate in follow up investigations.Implementing legally defensible sampling programme at harvest and other stages of production.
This involves on site work up of samples.A strict chain of custody system is in place to ensure the integrity of the samples and sampling procedure is carried out in accordance with procedures which have obtained INAB accreditation.Assist in the work-up of finfish samples.Implementing legally defensible subsampling in accordance with procedures which have obtained INAB accreditation.Liaise with approved 3rd party laboratories and assist in sending samples for subcontract analysis to various approved laboratories.Ensure that the integrity of samples is maintained and is carried out in accordance with procedures.To assist in, and carry out, the chemical analyses of veterinary residues and environmental contaminants in farmed fish/seafood at laboratories using various instrument e.g.
LCMSMS, GC-ECD, HPLC-UV, HPLC-FLUOR, GFAAS, CVAFS. Screening analysis within 4 weeks of receiving sample.Confirmatory analysis within 6 weeks of receiving samples.Troubleshooting of analytical methodologies.To assist in and carry out the troubleshooting of analytical methods and instruments where necessary in accordance with the quality system.Method development and validation of appropriate analytical methodologies to assist in method development and validation of appropriate analytical methodologies in accordance with the quality system (ISO 17025).Residue methods have to be validated in accordance with Commission Decision 2002/657.
This may need to be carried out for several reasons e.g.
- improvement in methodology practice, Community Reference Laboratory or EU FVO auditors request new compounds to be added to NRCP, a change in treatments used by industry etc.Assist with the implementation and administration of the quality system (accredited to ISO 17025) and carry out procedures in accordance with the Quality System that are relevant to the implementation of the residues monitoring programme.
This includes all analytical procedures, data storage, reporting, recording keeping and chain of custody.Assist Residue programme coordinator in reporting, data management and other programme management tasks as relevant. Qualifications:Analytical chemistry expertise preferably in residue /tissue analysis and instrumental techniques such as HPLC and LCMS and other analytical techniques used in residue analysis. Strong mass spectrometry experience, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance is required. Strong analytical method development expertise and trouble-shooting, problem-solving skills is essential.A professional, pro-active approach and an ability to work efficiently under pressure.Be capable of working on your own initiative.Effective communicator, both verbal and written.Have strong ability to critically review analytical data, excellent attention to detail is a must.Proven ability at effective decision-making. What We Can Offer You:Competitive salary.Unparalleled industry training.Opportunities for professional development and growth across the pharmaceutical, medical device, food, and environment industries.Joining a collaborative and innovative team dedicated to excellence in service delivery. Diversity and inclusion are essential to our mission and achieving our vision at CLS.
