Role Overview - Health and Safety Advisor (Intermediate) The Intermediate Health and Safety Advisor will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of construction and utilities projects in Dublin. Reporting to the Senior Health and Safety Manager, the successful candidate will bring 3-5 years of experience in health and safety management, particularly on construction and utilities sites. This role demands a proactive individual who is knowledgeable in best practices, regulatory requirements, and risk management strategies within the construction industry. Key Responsibilities: Site Safety Inspections: Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and legal regulations. Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions. Risk Assessments: Develop and implement comprehensive risk assessments for ongoing projects, ensuring that all activities are performed safely and that potential risks are mitigated effectively. Training and Development: Provide health and safety training to on-site personnel, including inductions, toolbox talks, and specialized safety programs. Ensure that all workers are aware of safety protocols and are equipped to follow them. Incident Reporting and Investigation: Lead investigations into any accidents or near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing measures to prevent recurrence. Prepare detailed reports and communicate findings to the senior management team. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all site activities comply with local and national health and safety regulations, as well as company policies. Keep up to date with changes in legislation and advise the project team accordingly. Safety Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records, including incident logs, audit reports, and safety certifications. Ensure that all documentation is readily accessible for internal and external audits. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to integrate health and safety practices into all phases of the project lifecycle. Promote a culture of safety and encourage proactive safety behaviors among all site personnel. Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of health and safety practices within the company by staying informed of industry trends and implementing new strategies where appropriate. Qualifications and Experience: Experience: 3-5 years of experience in health and safety roles, specifically within the construction and/or utilities sectors. Education: A relevant qualification in health and safety, such as a diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field. Certifications: Membership in a recognized professional body (e.g., IOSH) and relevant certifications (e.g., NEBOSH) are highly desirable. Knowledge: Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety regulations, particularly in the construction and utilities sectors. Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software. Personal Attributes: Detail-oriented with a strong focus on safety and compliance. Ability to influence and engage with stakeholders at all levels. Proactive in identifying potential risks and implementing preventative measures. Committed to fostering a positive safety culture on site.
