Role Context The role of the Investment Strategy Manager is to lead a project financing and equity transaction team that ensures ESB's development pipeline of opportunities is financed and commercialised in an optimum manner.
The role will involve the financial structuring, establishment, and ongoing management of individual projects, which allows for ESB to extract the maximum financial and organisational benefits from each investment or joint venture.
Key Responsibilities Oversee ESB's investment partnership model for its generation pipeline. Manage all stakeholder engagement in relation to approvals for establishment and execution of individual partnerships and Joint Ventures. Lead any asset sale or acquisition process through offer selection, evaluation, approval, and stakeholder management. Manage the appointment of technical, commercial, tax, and legal advisors as required for any sale or acquisition transaction. Lead the execution of any project financing process for individual assets and investments. Lead the negotiation of material commercial contracts including Share Purchase Agreements, SHA, Framework agreement, and refresh of investment parameters process. Skills, Knowledge & Experience: Qualified Accountant/CFA qualified with minimum 10 years PQE. Significant experience in non-recourse Project Finance for infrastructure investments, acquisition or divestment processes, including working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, managing advisors, influencing others, and managing external/internal stakeholders. Experience managing teams, recruitment, people development, and performance management/review. Experience of business case development, ideally across multiple energy generation technologies. Experience in contract negotiations (such as Shareholder Agreements, Share Purchase Agreements, Joint Venture Agreements, Offtake Agreements, Option Agreements, Finance Documents, etc.
). Ability to formulate a commercialisation strategy for assets.
Experience with Auctions and/or Corporate PPAs would be considered an advantage. Working knowledge in tax, accounting, insurance, treasury, and legal issues related to large infrastructure projects/companies. Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills. Flexibility to adjust and thrive in an environment with changing requirements, schedules, and priorities for multiple projects or assignments. Ability to clearly and concisely express information (or data) to non-technical associates, peers, and management. Experience in maintaining good relationships with key stakeholders, JV partners, etc. Location This position is based in ESB Head Office, 27 Fitzwilliam Street Lower, Dublin 2.
