Job Description To strengthen our NPD team in Longford we are looking for a NPD Engineer.
Apart from proactively supporting research and development associated with wound care and skin care products, your role will include:  Completion of design & development deliverables as per design & development planning process.
Co-ordination of internal testing reports, biocompatibility testing reports & technical file development.
Supporting product Bioburden, Bioburden validation & sterilisation validation activities during product development.
Design & Development of new advanced Wound Care, Ostomy, Surgical / NPWT & Skincare Products.
Attendance & presentation of projects at pipeline & Gate reviews.
Prototyping of new products, internal reviews & external review for design freeze.
Supporting regular meetings with customers and internal functional groups for projects.
Generation & Maintenance of Product Design Files.
Management of new product introduction projects.
Material Research, Sourcing & Testing.
Responsible for the full co-ordination of trials from scheduling to line clearance post trial.
Product cost development with Finance.
Quality assurance reviews of R&D Documents.
Maintenance & improvement of the R&D Laboratory.
New process introductions, including identification of new equipment & test methods.
Participating in design reviews and the compilation of associated documentation.
Supporting product development validation planning, protocols and reports.
Generating Raw Material specifications, including artwork & label approvals as well as bill of Materials for new product developments and introductions.
Product, Packaging, Splice & Design Specification building during product development.
Additional duties and responsibilities:      Attendance of trade fairs and customer visits.
Safety walkabouts and reporting of potential safety issues.
Supporting Laboratory Technician activities and aging studies.
Other duties as assigned by the R&D Manager.
  Qualifications Minimum Degree in a Science or Engineering discipline (specializing in Chemistry/Physics /Polymer fields).
2-5 years' experience working in a medical device environment, preferably with involvement in product design and R&D. A working knowledge of ISO 13485 Design Control requirements.
Validation experience including Sterilization, process and packaging validations would be beneficial.
Good Analytical Skill and Problem Solving abilities.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Capable of working in a fast paced & dynamic environment.
Knowledge of Medical Device manufacturing environment including GMP would be an advantage are highly desirable.
