Occupational Health Nurse required to work in Occupational Health Department, Dublin City Centre for a period of 2 -3 months.
• The client provides occupational health services to 46,000 employees in the Civil Service & Prison Service, across 56 Departments and Offices.
• The staffing consists of the CMO, three doctors, currently two nurses and supporting administration staff.
• It is envisaged the successful candidate will start in early September 2024 • 4 days per week (but consideration will be given to a candidate who is available 3 days per week) • The position is based on site at our purpose-built Occupational Health centre in in Dublin city • The department operates regular hours 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday • Whilst it is highly desirable that the candidate has a qualification in occupational health/ occupational health & safety , consideration may be given to a candidate with significant relevant experience across all areas or who is currently acquiring this qualification.
• The successful candidate will be placed on point 1 of the CNM2 pay scale unless said candidate has previous HSE service that puts them on a higher point.
The locum occupational health nurse will undertake the following tasks: • Pre-Placement Medical Screening, interpretation of results & compiling reports.
This involves review of pre-employment questionnaires, accompanying special tests, and follow-on telephone consultations/ requests and interpretation of medical reports.
This is likely to be a large component of the role.
This is mainly paper / desktop based.
• Case Management; sick leave absence assessment / workplace rehabilitation in collaboration with the relevant Occupational Physician.
This is mainly telephone based but may also include face to face assessments.

• OHN led workplace health surveillance • OHN led workplace immunisation programmes • Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time • They work under the oversight of an occupational health professional designated by the CMO.
• The candidate will be employed and remunerated at the relevant point of the HSE CMN2 pay scale, and will receive a Higher Qualification Allowance if they have a relevant qualification in Occupational Health / Health & Safety The essential candidate requirements are as follows • Currently registered general nurse with NMBI • Relevant qualification in occupational health nursing / occupational health & safety, at diploma level or higher, or currently studying for same.
• At least 3 years post registration experience in general nursing acute hospital setting • 2 years' experience are in occupational health nursing setting • Excellent communication, presentation & interpersonal skills.

Builds relations with stakeholders in HR.
• Experience of managing pre-placement medicals • Experience of Sickness Absence Case Management • Experience of organizing and conducting health surveillance • Experience with organizing and conducting immunisation programmes including phlebotomy and IM vaccine administration • Recent Training / Certification in CPR • Recent training in Anaphylaxis • Driving license and access to own motor vehicle • Appropriate pre-employment clearances as per the current HSE Locum Nurse Framework including all pre-employment health clearances, garda vetting and prescribed training courses • The locum will fill in a weekly timesheet that will be signed off by a member of the medical or nursing staff, or the office Executive Officer To express your interest in this role,
