Job Description Ashdale Care Ireland is a provider of residential and therapeutic services to children and young people.
We provide specialist therapeutic residential services for young people with complex, emotional and behavioural needs who cannot be adequately cared for in a mainstream setting.
Role : Senior Occupational Therapist Location : Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan Salary: Competitive salary and benefits package for suitable candidate Term: 1 year contract About The Role There is currently 1 Senior Occupational Therapist maternity cover vacancy available in Ashdale Care Ireland.
Ashdale Care has been providing Residential Care and supports for children and young people across the North-East of the country for over 20 years.
We support children and young people who are unable to live at home and who present with a range of behavioural, emotional and psychological difficulties, as a result of their early life trauma.
Most of our young people have experienced significant developmental trauma in their lives.
Our service is child-centred and uses a comprehensive, evidence-based, programmatic approach (CARE) in the homes, with additional support provided by our in-house Therapeutic Support Team, which consists of Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Art Therapists, Teachers, and Behaviour Therapists.
The Senior Occupational Therapist will work as an integral part of the Multidisciplinary Therapeutic Support Team, supporting our children and young people to achieve their potential in all areas of their lives.
Working within a Model of Therapeutic Support that is informed by Developmental Trauma, Neurosequential Approach and Sensory Attachment Intervention (SAI), the role of the occupational therapist will include: participating in the completion and development of comprehensive trauma-informed and attachment-oriented assessments and support plans for children and young people; contributing to the development of holistic, clinical formulations to facilitate the provision of effective support; consulting and collaborating with social care teams in our homes to provide on-site support, training and advice to colleagues; as well as direct trauma-based occupational therapy interventions.
The professional reporting relationship for clinical governance and clinical supervision will be to the Director of Therapeutic Support through the professional line management structure.
Additional external clinical supervision is provided.
The Senior Occupational Therapist will be responsible for the provision of a high quality, person-centred Occupational Therapy service to Ashdale Care's young people and staff.
Essential Criteria: Hold an Honours Bachelors Degree in Occupational Therapy (Level 8) / Masters in Occupational Therapy from a 3rd level institution offering a programme of study accredited by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists.
Be registered with CORU or show proof of pending registration at application stage.
At least five years relevant post-graduate experience as an Occupational Therapist, preferably in paediatric services.
Responsibilities: The Senior Occupational Therapist will: · Manage a complex needs caseload.
Implement a stepped care model of therapeutic support service delivery including universal, targeted, and intensive support, dependant on need.
Design, develop and deliver interventions and strategies to support the young person's participation and engagement in daily occupations.
Design, develop and deliver continuous professional development opportunities for social care staff within the four-tiered model of support, using evidence-based frameworks.
Continued development, review, evaluation, and management of the Occupational Therapy service within Ashdale Care Ireland, to ensure it is theory-driven and in line with evidence-based frameworks.
· Be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and review of interventions for children and young people according to service standards.
· Operate within the scope of Occupational Therapy practice as per CORU requirements and in accordance with local guidelines.
