Engineering (Continuous Improvement / Lean / Projects)Our client, a leading medical device company based in Galway, is looking for an Operational Excellence Manager to join their team.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Lead all aspects of the Operational Excellence program.Provide leadership and foster cross-functional teamwork to exceed Operational Excellence targets.Lead the annual cost reduction project (IMPACT) to deliver planned year-on-year savings.Continuously improve the skills and behaviors of everyone in the organization through training, coaching, and mentoring in Lean Operations.Ensure that the continuous improvement team has the required capabilities and competencies.Instill and maintain a positive team atmosphere.
Ensure that people management issues are effectively resolved in accordance with company policies and procedures.Ensure that all changes are implemented in compliance with the QMS (ISO13485 / FDA) and the OH&S, Environmental and Energy Management Systems (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 50001) and other regulatory requirements as relevant to the Company.Contribute to the continual improvement activities of the EHS and Energy Management systems.Ensure compliance with all EHS requirements to ensure the health and safety of yourself and others.Ensure that EHS requirements are considered before implementing change so that potential hazards or risks are identified and mitigated.Ensure compliance with all Quality Management System requirements.Keep your skills current and be conversant with the latest developments in Operations Excellence.Be flexible and take on other duties which the Company may assign you from time to time.
These 'other duties' will be agreed with Management prior to any assignment.Job RequirementsBachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, or related field.Qualification in Lean Operations (MSc, Black Belt, or equivalent).A minimum of ten years of progressive experience with medical device manufacturing in an engineering and production environment.Five or more years in a leadership position leading the implementation of operations excellence.Successful experience leading and developing cross-functional teams and organizational talent.Experience in a metric-driven culture.Experience with ISO standards including ISO 13485, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.Thorough knowledge of lean operations principles and practices.Thorough knowledge of six sigma practices.The applicant will be a passionate "Lean" practitioner with initiative and leadership skills.Demonstrated oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills.Trustworthy, discrete, and a high degree of personal integrity.Technical ability and acumen.Accurate and attention to detail.Ability to work with limited supervision and lead a cross-functional team.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.Ability to travel as required (20%).
