Dublin City University The School of Chemical Sciences at Dublin City University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in electrochemistry, electroanalytical chemistry, and electrochemiluminescence for biosensors (immunosensor) development, with an emphasis on the detection of pathogenic bacteria.
Experience in electrochemistry (practical applications), sensor development, and antibody-based biosensor is essential.
The main goal of this project is to develop stable advanced functional conductive bioinks, allowing sensor platforms to be 3D (bio)printed at low temperatures for the electrochemical detection of pathogens.
The project is led by Dr. Loanda Cumba in collaboration with Prof. Yann Pellegrin - Nantes University (France) and Prof. Robert Forster – DCU (Ireland).
Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesConduct and deliver a programme of research to the highest standard under the supervision and direction of the PI.Support the PIs on project planning to ensure all milestones and deliverables are met.Support the work of other PD researchers and PhD students.Supervise and assist undergraduate students with their research projects.Provide weekly updates and a monthly written report on progress.Engage in teaching and teaching support as assigned by the Head of School.Compile, analyse, and interpret data generated in the project using specific software packages.Produce a full report and presentation at the end of the contract.Support the team's ongoing communication and dissemination efforts.Liaise with internal and external stakeholders.Engage in appropriate training and development opportunities.Carry out administrative work associated with the programme of research as necessary.Minimum RequirementsThe successful candidate must have a PhD in Electroanalytical Chemistry, electrochemistry, or related areas.Have a good knowledge in one or more of the following areas: (bio)chemical sensing, bacteria culture, biomarker detection, assay development, electrochemical sensors manufacture.
Preferred QualificationsPostdoctoral experience in electrochemical biosensor development.Knowledge in electrochemistry/electrochemiluminescence.Strong work ethic, creative thinking, and dedication to problem-solving.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Good organisational skills with an ability to prioritise and work independently.Proven ability to work in a team and innovate in a multi-stakeholder environment.Assessment CompetenciesDiscipline knowledge and Research skills: Demonstrates knowledge of a research discipline.Understanding the Research Environment: Demonstrates awareness of the research environment.Communicating Research: Demonstrates the ability to communicate their research.Managing & Leadership skills: Demonstrates the potential to manage a research project.Compliance TrainingThe postholder will be required to undertake essential compliance training including Orientation, Health & Safety, Data Protection (GDPR), and Cyber Security Awareness Training.
Salary ScaleIUA Postdoctoral Researcher Salary Scale - €44,847 - €57,332.
Appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
