Position Description ESB Generation and Trading Regulation and Compliance has a vacancy where you can apply and develop your economic skills and have an impact on the transition to a low-carbon world.

ESB is taking urgent and focused action to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040 and still ensure that power is affordable.
We are Ireland's leading power generator not only by size but also by having varied types of technologies, and you can help us deliver on our purpose as part of the team in Generation.
You will join an experienced Regulation team that is at the center of many of the challenges and projects in our generation business.
As we operate across jurisdictions, you will have the opportunity to develop subject matter expertise in a wide variety of topics across the Single Electricity Market (SEM) of Ireland, Northern Ireland, and the GB energy market.

ESB is a large organization with over 9000 staff members, so as you develop your career within the Regulation team, you will also learn the competencies that will make you suitable for wider roles.As the challenge to drive to low carbon becomes keener, opportunities and challenges will inevitably arise, making sure that the work you are involved with is always interesting.By joining the team, you will have an opportunity to affect the direction and delivery of solutions addressing the social challenge of our time to drive to a low carbon sustainable future.Key Responsibilities Ensure you understand the market rules and the impact they have on commercial success.Use economic principles to review and analyze the impact of any industry rules.Communicate the impact of regulatory and energy policy decisions on the Business.Consider changes in rules that can improve commercial returns.Work closely with other teams across the generation business and wider.Consider the impact of renewable generation on future market designs.Experience and Qualifications A drive to learn more, be inquisitive, and be a positive member of a team.Bring a real interest in economics and applying it to real-world problems.Have a real interest in getting to the root of a problem and applying analytical skills.Have a flair to collate and present results in a quick and understandable manner.Be interested in the commercial impact that regulation has so that we can fund the future and compete.Be able to use office skills to manage your own workload and to support others.Being able to talk to others is going to be key.A Masters in Economics (or equivalent qualification with relevance to the role) or 3 years post-qualification experience.Location This position will be based in our new state-of-the-art Fitzwilliam 27 office in Dublin, as the primary in-person location for collaboration and connecting with colleagues.
In-person meetings will be a feature of the role, which may also involve overseas travel occasionally (e.g.
Brussels/Dublin/London).

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least one anchor day per week.
