Job Description General Manager needed for busy Restaurant, Bar & Farm Shop We need an engaging and experienced individual to become the General Manager for Honestly Farm Kitchen in Strandhill, Sligo and to help us deliver our Sustainable Restaurant Mission & Goals. Our popular and busy Restaurant, Bar, and Farm Shop serve produce direct from our nearby organic farm. The General Manager will ensure the restaurant operates efficiently and profitably. As with all members of our senior team, there is an expectation to wear multiple hats and seek out opportunities to make us and themselves better every day!

What it's like to work here You will work right beside one of the most popular and picturesque surfing beaches in Ireland. You will be managing a team of front-of-house staff, as well as the Head Chef and kitchen team. You'll work to make every customer experience exceptional and to drive the business forward.

What you'll be doing You will manage the restaurant, bar, and farm shop. You will be responsible for financial targets and management, building an exceptional customer experience, ensuring a well-trained team, a safe, fair, and welcoming place of work and generally delivering our mission and green business goals to your team and customers every day.

Schedule 8-10 hour shifts (40 hours total) over a flexible 5-day week. Includes weekdays, weekends, and evenings.

Main Duties & Responsibilities Reporting to the Business Owners

Sales Ensure full-service capacity at peak times in the restaurant and to optimize table turnover, bar, and takeaway sales. Lead on events, promotions, and our guest loyalty program to drive revenues at quieter times and to maximize seasonal opportunities. Work with the Business Owners and Head Chef to feed ideas into menu development in your restaurant for profitability and commercial appeal while complying with our ethical food philosophy. Coordinate group bookings and corporate hospitality/catering bookings. Farm Shop Lead your team to drive farm shop and deli sales and achieve optimum product shelf-space profitability in your restaurant. Marketing, Events & Networking Work with the Marketing Manager, Owners, and your team, to build a marketing strategy, organize on-site events and other brand-building activities. Participate at local food, community, and charity events where required. Operations Day to Day Operations: Lead your team, including acting as a hands-on, rostered shift supervisor, to ensure smooth operations in our restaurant, takeaway, and farm shop areas on a day-to-day basis. Customer Service: Lead your team to ensure exceptional customer service which consistently exceeds expectations. Solicit reviews and customer feedback, ensure that complaints are dealt with effectively and create a culture where all feedback (both positive and negative) is welcomed as an opportunity for the business to learn and grow. Checklists/Audits/Training Manual & SOPs: Develop and manage on a day-to-day basis, our image, visual merchandising, and customer touchpoint checklists for each store. Develop and implement our team training manual and Customer Service SOPs. HR: Prepare rosters and manage staffing levels to ensure that customer service, operational needs, and financial objectives are met. Recruit, train, and develop FOH teams ensuring the right people are in the right place at the right time. Ensure that onboarding and offboarding procedures are followed, that performance reviews and individual training plans are implemented in a timely manner and that underperformance is addressed. Nurture a positive working environment and safeguard team welfare. Team Building: Work closely with the Head Chef to ensure a close and supportive relationship between Kitchens and FOH. Support the Head Chef in the recruitment and training of new kitchen team members when required. HACCP: Work with our in-house Environmental Health Officer to ensure that site HACCP plans are properly implemented by your team on-site and to ensure the highest standards of food safety are always maintained. Stock Management: Ensure that orders are placed, goods-in checks and stock-takes are conducted in a timely and accurate manner, that stock is properly rotated, waste recorded and that appropriate stock par levels are maintained. Site Security: Overall responsibility for site security including cash handling, fire safety, CCTV, and alarm monitoring procedures. Site Maintenance: Overall responsibility for site maintenance. Work with the maintenance manager, and reporting to the Operations Manager, manage the maintenance schedule and perform routine maintenance checks on the buildings and equipment to ensure the site is in good repair, looks great, and complies with health and safety regulations at all times. Financial Targets: Manage financial targets in your restaurant including Sales, GP, Waste, and Labour Cost targets and positive Customer Review target. Mission & Goals: Work to achieve our mission, aims, and goals. You will have a key part to play in our social, environmental, and financial goals. This list is not exhaustive or exclusive, other duties and responsibilities may be required. Travel between sites may also be required.

Who we're looking for Required: At least three years' experience as a Restaurant General Manager in a busy operation A hands-on approach to service The ability to prioritize and juggle multiple responsibilities Strong leadership, management, and recruitment skills Experience in managing budgets Confident IT skills and experience in POS systems Great communication skills Commercial focus Commitment to creating a vibrant, welcoming, inclusive workplace An interest in sustainable food practices and great-tasting food Sound knowledge of Health & Safety, Food Safety, Security, Fire Safety, and Employment legislation Overseeing stock levels and ordering supplies.
