Occupli Recruitment are currently recruiting a Safety Officer for a client in the manufacturing industry based in Galway.
The operation in Ireland primarily involves the distribution of bitumen products, emulsion manufacturing, chemical manufacturing, and the provision of specialist road maintenance services on the national, regional, and local roads network in the west of Ireland.
Role Description Reporting to the Group Health & Safety Manager, you will be looking after the Health and Safety function for all legal aspects of Health and Safety. This will include establishing and communicating policies to other employees and line managers to create and maintain a safe workplace and implementing a continuous improvement philosophy for Ireland.
This role will include dealing with our sub-contractors to ensure they meet and adhere to the safety standards. The role will primarily be located in Galway; however, there will be some travel involved to our other contracting locations. This person will be involved in the implementation and management of Safe T Cert and a knowledge of ISO 45001 safety management system is desirable.
Responsibilities Health and Safety Culture.Develop, implement, and monitor the safety program to ensure compliance with all applicable government regulations and comply with technical standards.Build relationships with all parties for the implementation of Safe T Cert/ISO 45001 management systems.Liaise with the contracting team to promote change management, legal compliance, and behavioral-based safety.Undertake scheduled site audit inspections and communicate the results of site inspections to site managers and the Safety Manager.Deliver safety presentations to staff on the annual training day, induction training, toolbox talks, and any other training as necessary.Monitor legislative compliance and communicate requirements and upcoming changes.Prepare any reports as required, including accident investigations, audit reports, and management reviews.Prepare and deliver Management Review packages for ISO Management Systems.Identify and address site safety issues and observations and report to senior management.Deliver safety-related training/induction to staff, contractors, and subcontractors.Support the accident and incident reporting structure. Deliver and complete any statutory notifications to the H.S.A in line with the Construction Regulations and associated Project safety construction plans, risk assessments, and method statements.Act as company representative at project and safety meetings as necessary.Implement and monitor the service providers to ensure compliance with the Safety management and ensure that the safety documentation is adequate for the projects.Conduct toolbox talks, communicate method statements, and risk assessments as required.Manage and coordinate hazard identification and risk assessment, chemical risk assessment, machinery, and maintenance programs.Actively participate and assist in the coordination of Health & Safety awareness activities.Support in the participation in LA Quotes/pre-qualification/PSCS questionnaires as necessary.RequirementsDistributing all reports as directed.KPI's.Management and reporting on Safety KPIs, with the core objective of promoting compliance and continual improvements in line with the Strategy.Health and Safety performance goals.Tracking of non-compliant issues, observations, accidents, and near-miss reporting.Completion of Audit Schedule and tracking audit actions.Accident investigation and Corrective Action Plan.Degree or equivalent qualification (Occupational Safety and Health, Construction, Engineering is desirable).Professionally qualified - minimum Level 7/Diploma or Equivalent.Managing Safely in Construction is desirable.Experienced in Auditing (ISO 45001 and/or Safe T Cert).Working knowledge of SHWWA 2005 and associated legislation.Microsoft Office skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint.Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment.More than 3 years' experience of Safety & Health in manufacturing, quarrying, road maintenance, construction, or related industries.Good communication, leadership, and teamwork skills, working at all levels.Flexibility.Working ISO 45001 or Safe T Cert Management System.
