Family Support Worker Job Description 1.
Family Support: - The Family Support Worker will aim to enable families to improve their circumstances as identified through assessment, referral and agreed outcomes.
- Work with the family to provide a direct service to them while also enabling them to access other external interventions that will support them to function as a unit.
- Working with other agencies to ensure the needs of the families are being met and identifying Meitheals for families ensuring that their needs are met through an interagency approach.
Also to act as lead practitioner or chair as required of Meitheal meetings; - Facilitate parenting programmes both to groups and on a one-to-one basis.
- Maintain contact with parents and other professionals on a daily or weekly basis as required via phone or organising meetings; - To work towards the most positive outcome for the child and family in line with national policy, legislation and best practice; 2.
Grant Application and Project Development: - To enable the project to cover the costs of programmes the Family Support Worker will work closely with other relevant staff to submit grant applications to various departments and funding agencies.
- In the case of new developments, the Family Support Worker will in consultation with the Project Manager and other staff oversee applications in, for example, capital developments, new programme developments.
All budgets and projections will be developed in consultation with the Project Administrator and Finance Sub-group.

Administration Work: The Family Support Worker will undertake appropriate administrative work which will include; - Liaising with the other relevant workers to write up reports to funding agencies on potential projects; - Ensuring all report and necessary documentation are complete for funders and relevant agencies; - Ensuring that the building is meeting adequate health and safety standards; - Dealing with appropriate correspondence; - To develop clear policies and procedures within the afterschool project and to ensure that these policies are adhered to; - To register children on the National Childcare System.

Promotion of all Services and Programmes; - Co-ordinate events and promotion of the work, programmes and services running in the Child and Family Services department within School Street Family Resource Centre in conjunction with other staff.
- Representing and reflecting the project in a positive manner in all dealing with the local community and other agencies.
