As part of the Grain to Glass sustainability team, the purpose of this role is to design and enable execution of Diageo's global carbon scope 3 strategy, in line with our 2030 Spirit of Progress ambition. The role is also a key support to the carbon and energy manager role, to support the development of decarbonisation strategy and provide subject matter expertise on Scope 3 decarbonisation and carbon reporting to markets and categories.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Serve as in-house expert on carbon scope 3, across topics such as carbon accounting, emissions reduction strategies, insetting and offsetting approaches, LCAs and footprint analysis, and carbon neutrality and net zero strategies.Provide strategic input to continuously improve our carbon scope 3 reporting frameworks and data.Coach, guide and support procurement teams and suppliers as they pursue carbon footprint reduction or carbon neutrality, enabling them to generate footprint analysis or LCAs, develop and activate reduction or insetting/offsetting sourcing strategies, and enable effective strategy deployment over time.Engage with, motivate, and build the capability of cross-functional senior leaders (procurement, supply, technical, finance, brands and markets) in carbon scope 3 implications across sustainable sourcing, developing and deploying new tools, resources and programs.Engage externally with suppliers and other key stakeholders to positively influence Diageo's reputation and to build partnerships and alliances that advance the work.Build and influence a network of external partners and advisors that deliver both competence and capacity to Diageo, independently managing complex external partnerships and related budget and programs.Bring thought leadership and expertise to Diageo to define & embed carbon action and sustainable sourcing as a core business competency.Key Skills and Experience Required: Strategic thinking and climate (carbon) expertise: World-class technical expertise in supply chain climate strategy and action. Familiarity with different methodologies to calculate and report emissions.Strong familiarity with sustainable sourcing approaches, best-practice, emerging trends and experience effectively deploying such programs globally.Strong influencing skills: Extensive experience explaining the rationale for and garnering support from senior leadership, procurement, brands, technical and finance leaders to develop and deploy carbon scope 3 strategies and action plans within a global FMCG.External stakeholder engagement and management: Deep knowledge of the partner landscape, and the ability to represent Diageo externally.Experience in developing key performance indicators to measure and demonstrate progress.Conflict resolution: ability to identify root causes of complex issues and successfully navigate their resolution.Excellent presentation skills, enthusiasm, and ability to lead workshops internally and externally, engaging people and building capability.Be a self-starter with high levels of motivation to work across a matrix organisation.Working with Us: Flexibility is key to success in our business and many of our people work flexibly in many different ways, including part-time, compressed hours, flexible location.
