BenchMark are seeking a highly experienced Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join our client in Co Tipperary.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the accounts' payable function, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and related financial transactions.
This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
The Role: Oversee the accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
Manage the preparation and execution of payment runs, including EFTs, wire transfers, and cheque payments.
Act as the primary point of contact for vendor inquiries, resolving payment discrepancies, and maintaining positive relationships with suppliers.
Perform monthly reconciliations of vendor accounts and AP-related general ledger accounts, ensuring all discrepancies are identified and resolved.
Assist with the month-end close process by ensuring all AP transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the AP function.
Ensure all AP processes comply with relevant laws, regulations, and internal controls, including VAT and withholding tax requirements.
Prepare and analyse AP reports, providing insights and recommendations to the finance management team.
Mentor and support junior AP team members, providing guidance and training as needed.
Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations related to AP activities.
Manage and optimise AP-related financial systems and software, ensuring data integrity and efficiency.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an Accounts Payable role Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills.
Strong understanding of Irish and EU VAT regulations, accounting principles, and financial controls.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
