Location: Drogheda, Co. Louth
OverviewThe Senior Clinical Engineering Technician is directly responsible for carrying out all Clinical Engineering duties in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
A panel may be formed upon completion of this campaign for posts in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda and Louth County Hospital.

Key ResponsibilitiesThe Post Holder will: Contribute to the Department's administrations and functions.Arrange for the identification & purchase of such supplies and materials as are necessary for all Clinical Engineering work.Ensure that comprehensive maintenance schemes and work programmes are carried out satisfactorily.Keep such records as may be required from time to time and regular processing of all documentation associated with the operation of the Clinical Engineering Department.Assist with the coordination and implementation of preventive maintenance schedules.Ensure that all relevant Hospital Departments are fully briefed in the safe use and care of electro-medical equipment.Perform his/her duties in any Hospital Department or at such other locations as may be required.Maintain a satisfactory standard of work at all times.Provide maintenance services for electro-medical devices in respect of its functional, electronic, optical, electrical, and mechanical aspects to a standard of safety and accuracy consistent with its function and with professional standards.To be professionally responsible for all aspects of the post.To co-operate fully with ensuring compliance with Health & Safety requirements, regulations and standards.Report to immediate superior on any irregularities that might adversely affect the performance of assigned duties.Be willing to report to the Hospital outside of normal hours for emergency duty.Perform such duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Principal Clinical Engineering Technician or such other person as may be designated.Work with Infection, Prevention and Control Department, Endoscopy and Decontamination Departments to ensure compliance with National Standards.The Hospital is committed to providing a healthy and safe working environment for all staff. Minimum RequirementsHold as a minimum a recognised qualification at National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) Level 7 or higher, in one of the following:Biomedical EngineeringOr hold a recognised qualification at least equivalent to one of the above.Have a minimum of three years postgraduate satisfactory and relevant experience in an appropriate medical industrial field, including at least two years in a clinical engineering environment is desirable but not essential.Possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and administrative capacity) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.Post Specific RequirementsPossess strong interpersonal, management and communication skills.Be innovative, have a proven level of competence.Advance computing skills.Self-motivated, work in team or individually.Technical & Professional ExpertiseHas a command over the technical/professional skills and knowledge required within the job holder's role and continues to upskill to maintain high professional standards and continuous professional development requirements.
Communication & Interpersonal SkillsSpeaks and writes clearly, fluently and effectively to both individuals and groups; communicates in a manner that will persuade, convince and influence others, in order to motivate, inspire or encourage them to follow a particular course of action.
Commitment to Quality, Safety & Risk ManagementThe ability to focus on understanding stakeholder's needs and expectations and to respond effectively and efficiently to them. Has a good knowledge of and is committed to offer a quality service through the achievement of goals, accreditation standards, other organisation/department standards and risk management frameworks and guidelines.
Problem Solving & Decision MakingIdentifies and solves problems by understanding the situation, seeking additional information, developing and weighting alternatives, and choosing the most appropriate course of action given the circumstances.
