Senior Dietitian In Cancer Care

Job Purpose 

There are 2 fulltime senior dietitians in the Oncology /Haematology service and the scope of the service includes in-patient, day patient and outpatient work.
These dietitians rotate periodically, with one dietitian leading inpatient work, and the other delivering the nutrition care to Oncology and Haematology out-patients, day patients (OHU) work and care of some patients who are admitted from the OHU who are known to that Dietitian.
Initial rotation will be clarified as part of the recruitment process.
To be responsible for the nutritional care and management of patients attending the Oncology and Haematology service within the Mater Hospital.
To manage a clinical caseload effectively and provide patients with evidence based nutrition intervention.
To act as a resource on nutrition and cancer for oncology and haematology patients, dietitians, carers, medical staff, nursing staff, and other health care professionals The post holder is part of the team of dietitians delivering the clinical nutrition service to patients attending the Gastroenterology, Hepatology or/and GI cancer services (medical, oncology and surgery) at the Mater Hospital.
This team of dietitians are also supported by entry level dietitians in the delivery of patient services.
Rotation due to vacancies, competence development, and cover for colleagues maybe required.

This is a permanent senior dietitian post.
