As Legal Education Centre Senior Manager, the successful candidate will act as the team lead and will oversee the development, management and running of the portfolio of courses, on and offline, and the development of new programmes.
The role will have primary responsibility for managing the section, ensuring that performance targets are met.
The successful candidate should be legally qualified, though applications are welcome from other candidates with a training/education background.
Candidates should be willing to work on Saturdays and outside normal office hours.
This is a senior role with a great deal of responsibility that involves both an academic and commercial focus.
The successful candidate will need considerable experience.
Appointment of this role is initially on a fixed term two years' contract.
Main Duties & Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will carry out the following duties in line with the Institution's standards and strategic objectives and as directed by the Head of Education:
Management and co-ordination of the Education Department's post qualification programme, including all Centre courses organised, both on its own and in conjunction with external organisations/partners.Management of a large team of Centre staff.Preparation for and advance planning of the Centre portfolio of courses.Organising and conducting all planning meetings necessary to the proper preparation for the courses.Leading a major annual project, as part of the legal education initiative.Developing new programmes for the portfolio.Ensuring high quality standards across the portfolio.Leading the marketing strategy for the Centre.Assisting in the teaching and tutoring on courses, where appropriate.Overall co-ordination of the financial planning for the section, including projections, budget preparation, budget monitoring and reporting.Ensuring that performance targets for the Education Centre team are met.Reporting on Centre activities and results to the Council, Education Committee, Curriculum Development Committee and senior management team.Collaboration with the Professional Training Leadership on a range of projects.Liaising with the Head of Education on Centre activities on a regular basis.Knowledge & Skills Knowledge of and experience in legal work is preferable.Experience of managing a team is required.Ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.Excellent interpersonal skills.A legal background (preferably as a practising solicitor) and an interest in education.A range of professional experience is desirable.Digital literacy.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high attention to detail.Ability to work on his/her own initiative and as part of a team and be proactive in achieving project outcomes.Diplomatic and professional communication skills.A proactive approach with a growth mindset.Experience of dealing with a large volume of enquiries.Methodical, flexible and capable of undertaking multitask driven work.Ability to work in a pressurised environment.Ability to work to tight deadlines.Familiarity with accounts management would also be an advantage.Salary (DOE) and excellent working conditions, including pension, are offered.
