Senior Property Underwriter wanted for a new MGA-Dublin City Abrivia Recruitment is partnering with a leading Managing General Agent (MGA) based in Dublin, Ireland. Our client specializes in providing innovative insurance solutions within the Business Insurance sector. Although new to the market, our client already has a strong client base within Commercial Property.
With a primary focus on Commercial Property and plans to expand into Combined Commercial, our client is committed to delivering exceptional service and tailored products to their clients. With strong market relationships and an A-rated capacity, they are seeking a talented Senior Property Underwriter to join their team.
This role is offered on a 2-day-a-week basis in the office and along with an excellent package, it also includes shares within the business Your Role: Property Underwriting Expertise: Assess and underwrite property risks, examining exposures, coverage limits, and pricing to achieve profitable outcomes while maintaining underwriting standards.Risk Evaluation: Review property insurance submissions, conduct detailed risk assessments, and make informed decisions in line with the Managing General Agent's (MGA) underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.Business Line Flexibility: Adapt quickly between different property underwriting lines, ensuring agility in response to market trends and business demands.Portfolio Management: Manage a diverse portfolio of property accounts, monitor performance, identify trends, and implement strategies to maximize profitability.Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and agents, providing technical guidance and negotiating favorable terms.Market Awareness: Stay informed about property insurance market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory developments, offering insights to senior management for strategic planning.Underwriting Guideline Development: Participate in creating and refining underwriting guidelines and pricing methodologies to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of property underwriting.Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with insurance regulations, policies, and procedures, keeping up to date with any changes in property insurance regulations.Mentorship and Training: Mentor and guide junior underwriters, providing insights and best practices to support their development in property underwriting.Data-Driven Decision-Making: Use underwriting data and analytics to identify areas for improvement, mitigate risks, and optimize the property portfolio.Your Skills: Relevant Insurance Qualifications or an appetite to obtain qualifications if coming from outside the Irish market.Minimum of 5 years of experience in underwriting Property Insurance.Demonstrated success in building and maintaining relationships within the broker market.Strong analytical abilities with a knack for evaluating complex risks and making sound underwriting decisions.Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively convey underwriting strategies and solutions.Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with a collaborative team ethos.Opportunities for ongoing professional development and career progression within a growing organization.Inclusive and dynamic work environment with a strong emphasis on teamwork and innovation.
