Overview Senior Systems Administrator With the emergence of a hybrid working model for almost every office role, the task of IT Admin has broadened considerably with responsibilities now ranging widely across both hardware and software. More remote working (as well as a heightened risk generally) has also driven cyber security concerns straight to top of the agenda for every large firm. Against this background, one of Irelands leading Insurance companies is seeking a Senior Systems Administratorto support themaintenance and enhancement of their Infrastructure & Cyber Security environments. Your main major project work will be to oversee a continued process where the large part of currently on-prem servers & infrastructure will move to the cloud over the next 18-24 months. Currently their Enterprise Data Warehouse is on-prem but with a lot of the solutions that interact with this already in the cloud it is planned to gradually make this full move complete. Another core element of your role will be implementing a zero-trust plan for cybersecurity over the next 2 years. This will see you choosing network access control solutions, benchmarking servers, network segmentation and firewalls as well as involvement in encryption cyphers. A big part of this will be in keeping on top of the IT security demands of a regulated entity such as this. That means preparation/remediation before and after ISO audits. Youll also be examining findings then applying solutions uncovered through Red Teaming exercises or Penetration testing. This will involve working closely with third party technical architects, solution designers and developers on proposed solutions. On top of that, your overriding goal here will be in assessing the impact and feasibility of those solutions. Following on from this youll then be contributing to budget decisions and monitoring the budget spend involved. Alongside all of this, another major project youll be overseeing is the upgrading of the MS server from 2016 to 2022. On the side BAU, youll be overseeing the day-to-day functioning of hardware, software, network and security systems - ensuring their reliability, performance and integrity. As well as all of this, you will of course still be applying a hands-on element on the hardware side when the need arises. The other key aspect of your role being to maintain the reliability and availability of systemswith the core aim of keeping downtime to a minimum. Your Day-to-Day Operation, maintenance and optimisation of IT infrastructure and security systems, including servers, networks, software, firewalls and XDR. Enhancing the logical and physical security infrastructure as well as managing system storage and resources. Managing scalability, performance and redundancy for all platforms including capacity planning. Configuring, monitoring and securing network infrastructure - including firewalls, switches, network access control and remote connectivity. Managing device installation and refresh programs, ensuring reliable hardware and Operating Systems. Contributing to IT projects by providing technical expertise, participating in planning, executing system upgrades, migrations, and new technology implementations. Your Technical Background It is not expected for anyone to tick every box but previous experience in at least some of the below areas would be helpful. Previous experience in managing an array of IT Infrastructure: Servers, workstations, network switches, mobile devices, multifunction devices, etc. Exposure to best practice Information Security processes, eg: Incident Response, Intrusion Management, Attack Monitoring, Network Management, Threat and Vulnerability Management, ie: SIEM, EDR, Firewall, IPS, Server configuration controls. General awareness of Data Management principles including database methodologies around implementing data privacy and data encryption. Experience in general networking, topologies, IP, sub-netting, Firewalls, routing protocols, encryption standards. Some people management experience would be an advantage. Should have experience of: Enterprise software applications, cloud-based services (Microsoft 365), Windows server 2012-2022, Virtualization technologies (Hyper-V), mobile device management, network infrastructure, cybersecurity tools, XDR and remote support solutions. Nice to have: Active Directory Management, knowledge of SAN technology (eg: HPE, Dell or Brocade), SCCM, SQL SharePoint, Endpoint Protection Technologies, Network Access Control (NAC) solutions, Backup methodology and management, Office 365/Azure platform administration, Check Point firewall.
