Social Care Worker x2 posts Children's Residential Services Castlebar / Swinford, Co. Mayo Permanent 27.5 hours per week (+8 sleep-ins over a 4-week period) + Relief Reference Number 2024-190 & 191 Closing Date: September 27 th , 2024 Job Brief To support the Children's Services team to deliver targeted supports to families and children in Co. Mayo.
To support and advocate for participation and inclusion in the community and to achieve goals as identified by the children and families supported.
Operate within the framework of a family - centred approach and to actively engage in and promote co-operation and partnership with other services, both internally and externally and in particular with families.
Main Duties and Responsibilities ( full details available in job description) Supporting the team including the social care leader to coordinate the service to provide rostered supports to families.
Develop and maintain staff rosters and respond to changes as required, under the guidance of the social care leader.
To liaise and support the staff team to implement best practice models under the guidance of the social care leader.
To liaise with agencies: including Families / HSE / Enable Ireland/ Schools / Communities and all other relevant stakeholders to ensure a co-ordinated approach to service delivery.
Maintain and develop service plans as required. Ensure the line manager is appraised of progress and engaged when necessary to seek solutions.
To support and manage staff within the service as required by management team Actively engage in the creative development and ongoing changing needs of the service to meet the needs of the people we support.
Provide cover for the line manager as and if required, including managing personnel and service issues which arise.
Support and assist the line manager in managing the delivery of multiple individual plans, including tracking of individual plans and analysis of information in order to develop plans for the service and current service delivery.
Provide personal care and support to people we support as required Ensure a safe place of work, incorporating Western Care Association's Dignity at Work Policy and Health and Safety requirements and Abuse Guidelines. Promote safety in all environments, in line with the Association's practices.
Use positive approaches to support people who may have challenging behaviour in line with Organisational practice. Participate in aspects of the running of the service including leisure activities, driving transport, escort duties, general cleaning and upkeep of the service.
Assist in monitoring good budgetary practice /awareness.
Maintain the required records, reports, consistent with organisational requirements and Freedom of Information.
The post holder will receive support and supervision from their line manager regarding day to day work through the Supervisory Support Process in place in the Association.
Qualifications Eligible applicants should have a relevant level 7 social care or equivalent qualification and experience of working with individuals with Autism and/or Intellectual Disability.
Previous experience working with Young People preferable Conditions: Flexibility in working hours will be a feature of this position, to meet the individual needs of people supported. The flexibility required will also depend on the needs of the individuals supported and work rosters will be agreed with staff on a local basis by line manager.
