St. John of God Dublin South East Services provides a network of education, training, employment, respite, community living supports and rights promotion to children and adults with intellectual disabilities in South Dublin.
Sports Instructors - Day Services Permanent and Fixed Term, Full and Part Time Posts Available We are looking for two instructors to join our sports and recreation department.
These roles are for someone who has the interest and ability to join an established team, supporting and motivating the men and women of Dublin South East in their chosen sports and recreational activities which includes bowling, football, athletics, swimming, bocce, dance and golf and explore any other interests.
A key part of this role will be preparing and training Special Olympians in their chosen sports for the upcoming season.
Candidates should have the following: Relevant qualification in Social Care/Healthcare and in Sports or associated field, min.
requirement FETAC/QQI Level 6.
Previous experience of working with people with an intellectual disability.
Previous experience with Special Olympics Sports Programme, desirable.
Demonstrate an interest and experience in Sports activities.
Ability to develop and implement sports programmes for adults with an intellectual disability Ability to work as part of a team and work independently (running or leading a class).
Commitment to a Person Centred Planning Approach.
Knowledge of relevant national legislation and policy e.g.
New Directions.
Interest in and knowledge of health and sport trends, research and new ideas.
Excellent Communication, organisation, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Desirable: o Supporting adults with their Personal Care o Experience in Positive Behaviour Support Full valid manual Irish Driving Licence essential.
Note: Must be available to work weekends and evenings, where required.
