Sr. System Power Engineer, Ring HardwareRing is seeking a Senior System Power Engineer to join our electrical engineering team. This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping the power architecture of our next-generation Doorbell/Camera hardware, ensuring the highest product quality standards and driving continuous innovation and improvement. As a senior member of the Power Engineering team, you will lead the development and validation of advanced power solutions for both new product development and sustaining efforts. You will be a subject matter expert in power electronics, guiding the design, optimization, and testing of power systems, while also providing mentorship to junior engineers.
This role demands technical leadership in problem-solving, with the expectation to take ownership of power design challenges from root cause analysis through to solution implementation. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams and thought leaders across multiple technology domains, constantly striving to improve product performance, quality, and cost. To succeed in this role, you must demonstrate strong technical expertise, be highly adaptable, and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You will represent the power design function in project discussions, ensuring alignment with broader product objectives, and will play a critical role in strategic decision-making related to power architecture and product roadmaps.
Key job responsibilities:
Lead and Own the System Power architecture and Power solution accordinglySystem Power development from RFQ to MPHands on for Power circuit design, study, build and verificationWrite or contribute to development of test specifications, criteria and procedures.Hands on to find root cause, and a solution or workaround for bugsSecond source qualification, cost down taskSupport for sustaining engineeringBASIC QUALIFICATIONS- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of electrical engineering experience specifically in power electronics
- Experience in designing, testing, and debugging power electronics such as AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion, switching power supplies, driver circuits, and battery systems
- Experience in optimizing the power consumption for battery life
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
- Experience with the project management of technical projects
- Experience designing or testing products for safety, compliance, and regulatory standards
- Experience in working with overseas CM/OEM/ODM vendors in product development
- In-depth experience in Doorbell, Camera and other IoT product development
- Knowledge of IoT infrastructure constraints including power tree, power budget and battery life estimation
- Ability to apply critical thinking in complex situations; experience working in cross functional groups including mechanical engineering, thermal engineering, test, reliability, and failure analysis.
- Cross-organizational communication – comfortable evangelizing ideas and concerns clearly and persuasively, in both verbal and written forms.
