Sustainability Officers (Dublin and Kilkenny) Job Title: Regional Sustainability Officer
Location: Two positions available – one based in Dublin and one in Kilkenny.
Contract: 12 Month Rolling Contract
Purpose of the Role The Sustainability Officer will play a key role in advancing decarbonization, climate action, and sustainability initiatives.
The role focuses on supporting infrastructure, energy efficiency, water conservation, waste reduction, and implementing sustainability policies across the assigned region.
Responsibilities Lead sustainability and climate action initiatives within the assigned region.Develop and implement sustainability plans and projects across diverse facilities, including hospitals and community centers.Promote green environments, energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste reduction initiatives.Manage sustainability budgets and ensure compliance with public procurement processes.Collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and external partners to drive sustainability objectives.Provide technical guidance for the maintenance and sustainable development of infrastructure.Monitor and evaluate project outcomes to ensure alignment with regional and national sustainability goals.Qualifications Level 8 qualification (or higher) in Engineering, Science, or Technology, or equivalent.Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in sustainability, planning, or project management.Strong knowledge of climate action, sustainability policies, and public sector project management.Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., Engineers Ireland) is desirable.Skills and Competencies Effective leadership and ability to drive sustainable change.Proficient in critical analysis, decision-making, and managing complex projects.Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trust with stakeholders.Commitment to sustainability and innovation in public service.Other Requirements Full, clean driving license and access to transport for regional travel.Availability to travel between sites as required.
