Training Fab Process EngineerContract: Full Time/Fixed Term
Purpose of Role We are seeking a highly skilled Training Fab Process Engineer to join our team and lead efforts in semiconductor process education.
Reporting to the Head of Group, you will coordinate and deliver training programs in semiconductor materials science and device fabrication technologies.
This includes developing and delivering tailored courses for diverse client groups, ranging from introductory sessions to advanced workshops.
You will also oversee the development of training materials, demonstrate processing techniques, and manage laboratory operations while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities The preparation for and delivery of Semiconductor Materials science and Device Fabrication Technology lecturesDemonstration of tool operation and processing techniques in the Training laboratory at TyndallDevelopment of a range of courses to suit different client groups, ranging from ½ day course for an overview presentation of lab techniques, to 1 week course for post graduate studentsWork with Business Development team to develop a Continuing Professional Development Course, CPD, for external academic and industrial clientsWhere appropriate - course work is corrected and marks awarded are posted to the relevant department / student records office in UCC/TyndallAll administration associated with the Training course and preparation of costs and invoices associated with the various teaching modules.Development of appropriate documentation (eg manuals) for each of the fabrication sub processesPromotion of the Training facility and to be proactive in this roleRespond to user access and training requests in a timely and professional mannerInduction of all lab users and management of access recordsReview or proposed process activities within the training fabImplementation and monitoring of safe working practices within laboratory areasEnsures that performance status information on equipment/process is available through the accurate recording of all information on electronic work flow systems and other documentation as appropriateProvide written and verbal reports as requiredWhen required and as training fab schedules allow carry out process engineering duties in other fabrication laboratoriesEnsure all activities are compliant with the Tyndall Quality Management SystemEnsure all activities are compliant with the required Health and Safety standards including generation and review of Risk Assessments (RAs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training recordsCarry out any additional duties as may reasonably be required within the general scope and level of the postEssential Criteria Masters in a science or engineering disciplineTypically a minimum of 3 years of experience working as a process engineer in a semiconductor fabrication facilityExtensive knowledge of one or more semiconductor fabrication technologies eg Photolithography, Electron Beam Lithography, Plasma Processing etcTrack record in preparation of material for trainingExperience in delivery of technical training programmes /lectures/tutorialsExperience of delivery of hands on process/tool trainingDesirable Criteria Evidence of entrepreneurial experienceEvidence of creative skills/creativityExperience with DOETyndall National Institute has a proactive entrepreneurial culture and we welcome technology start-ups.
Appointment may be made on the Senior Technical Officer Scale B salary scale €64,587 - €75,961 per annum.
Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
