International Living is seeking a coordinator for all things video, ideally with a passion for world travel, to spearhead content production and the growth of our YouTube and other social video channels.
We have been a leading voice for a better life abroad since 1978, blazing the trail for modern day slow travellers, digital nomads, and retirees in search of their place in the world. We celebrate the vagabonds and adventurers, from the old-world walkable cities of Europe to the sun-soaked beaches of the Americas to the bustling streets of Southeast Asia, and every little slice of paradise in between.
As video producer and director, your job will be first and foremost to coordinate our far-flung team of correspondents and community members, who strive to capture and share the welcoming oases they have discovered, and the many tips they've learned that help make relocation easy and enriching.
The right candidate will be able to shape video scripts and shot lists well-suited to the lone adventurer with an iPhone, coordinate a small film crew 2000 miles away to capture interviews and tours with one of our resident correspondents, direct a real estate agent halfway across the globe on how to effectively tell the story of their town to our audience – and ensure the output is always engaging and entertaining, driving to high click-through rates and strong watch times.
The ideal candidate:Is a fantastic communicator – Working closely with our editors, with our global network of experts, with readers volunteering to share their experiences, and with internal and external resources for filming, editing, graphics, and more, you must be able to build great relationships, make your needs crystal clear, and leave everyone thrilled to have helped. Can juggle a dozen balls – With long lead times, travel delays, dozens of contributors, and literally a whole world to showcase, you must be able to manage many shows at various stages of production in parallel.Knows how to weave a story via video – Quantity must never trump quality, as you craft engaging narratives that let a viewer feel what it's like to live as an expat in a new adopted home and work with our copy/editorial teams to make them appealing and discoverable. Is a maestro with the tools of the trade – You must be able to step in when needed to film, edit, troubleshoot issues like lighting and sound (even if over a facetime call across 5 time zones), and otherwise make sure we get the most of the limited time we get from our on-air guests, many of whom are not accustomed to being on camera. Is scrappy – We are a small team trying to do justice to a world of content, and our YouTube/Reels/TikTok presence is just beginning to really take off – it's just impractical to send a 2-camera crew to every corner of the globe. Instead, we aim for simple, authentic, and most of all cost-effective production. If you can turn a guy with a selfie stick into a @PeterSantenello, you're our kind of person.Must have experience in project management, production, directing, editing and most of all the ability to drive our channels, with a focus on metrics, to ever bigger audiences.
Location: Ideally based in Portlaw, Waterford, Ireland two days a week but open to it being fully remote and to international applicants. The candidate will work across multiple divisions with primary presence in Ireland and many colleagues in North America. So, a regular working schedule on US Eastern or GMT is required. Will regularly coordinate with contributors globally, too, so flexible hours are key.
Occasional travel may be required to coordinate onsite filming, but the expectation is that the majority of the role can be coordinated from afar as multiple locations must have simultaneous production.
What We Offer:Hybrid working (remote and office based)Excellent healthcare package after 6 monthsExcellent pension after 2 years' serviceFlexible and fun environmentIf interested, send your C.V. and cover letter, putting YOUTUBE PRODUCER in the subject line and explain why you're the person for the job.
