The Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateway Network (TG – www.technologygateway.ie) works in partnership with Technological Universities and Institutes of Technology across Ireland to deliver innovation expertise and solutions for Irish industry.
The Applied-IoT Cluster is one of three clusters within the TG network that works with companies focused on delivering solutions involving the Internet of Things. Consisting of the COMAND (TUS), ICS (SETU), IMaR (MTU), Nimbus (MTU), Smarter Factory (TUS) & WiSAR (ATU) Technology Gateways, the cluster provides access to over 150 research engineers and professionals in software, hardware, communications/networks, data analytics, control, UI/UX and trialling across the six cluster Gateways. The primary goal of the Applied-IoT Cluster is to deliver innovation projects for companies based within the greater Dublin region. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for securing projects and representing the Applied-IoT Cluster's collective technical skillset with start-ups and SMEs with the support of each Technology Gateway team. The main role of the Business Development Manager is to increase the level of interaction between the members of the cluster and industry in the Greater Dublin region.
Minimum Qualifications Applicants are required to have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent and/or significant business development experience in the technology sector. Must possess a valid driver's license and own transportation. Candidates ideally demonstrate the following:
Extensive experience within the technical research/development or technical business development field. A broad range of sales & marketing skills. Ability to present and discuss technical concepts relating to IoT technologies with potential clients. Excellent knowledge of industrial requirements in the IoT or industrial automation fields. Experience working with industrial project partners. Results driven, self-motivated and ability to work effectively on own initiative. Reliable & hard-working with good communication and people skills. Must be able to travel to client company facilities, events and Cluster organised events and forums. The following skills would be desirable:
Knowledge and experience of regional authorities and development agencies responsible for economic, social and cultural development such as Enterprise Ireland, Údarás na Gaeltachta, and Local Enterprise Offices. Knowledge of technological research strategies and trends. Familiarity with the academic and industrial research environments. Job Role and Description The Applied-IoT Business Development Manager will be responsible for the following:
Driving industrial engagement between industry and the members of the Applied IoT Cluster. Development of a Business/Sales plan for the cluster. Engaging with potential clients, to understand and document their requirements. Generation of business leads which are actionable by the Applied-IoT Cluster. Presentation of the technical concepts, capabilities and applications of IoT Technology. Promotion of the Applied-IoT Cluster, raising awareness of the cluster within industry, primarily in Dublin. Working collaboratively with the Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateway Network Marketing Manager to create and deliver a marketing strategy for the cluster. Represent the cluster at relevant industry events, tradeshows and conferences. Engagement with potential clients, as directed by the Applied-IoT executive committee, for the generation of prospective projects. Maintenance of an agreed database for the Applied-IoT Cluster project pipeline. Regular reporting against a defined set of Key Performance Indicators. Access to attend technology training being ran by A-IoT Cluster members. Salary: Initially, this position is for 36 months with potential for extension. Salary for this position will be in the range of Point 5 to Point 8 on the MTU Research Fellow Scale (currently €77,800 to €83,493 per annum), dependant on candidate qualifications and experience. No commission or associated targets apply, apart from KPI's as a function of the position. Travel and subsistence: covered through expenses.
Hours of work: 35 hours/week.
Annual Leave: 28 days/annum.
Location: This post is based in TU Dublin, Tallaght, however visits will be made to collaborate with Industrial and Academic partners, including the Applied-IoT member Gateways. Mainly office based with a hybrid working environment possible. Modern open office and ideal location off M50 for ease of access.
